As I recall in the distant shadows of my memory from previous lives, the game of checkers began around 1000 AD but didn't get competitive until the 1800s. But even before 1800, there was a religious schism over the rules -- are you compelled to capture if you can? The arguments for and against were fatal to some, but these days, checkers is a family game and the rules for most are flexible. But as with any organized game, they are set in stone for anyone competing on an ACF checkerboard. There is big money in checker tournaments, even today. It's not at all the simple kids' game we thought growing up.
Loved the puzzle and I got that double jump in the end! Still have to take second-to-find in this tournament, though. Congrats to McMaceFam for their first place finish! TFTC!
