New placement Walking distance from my house. Been wanting to put one up near here...so now its done.
We named this one Black Dot Crossing because you will cross the old black dot trail blaze. The "dot" trails are old YCC trails that were put in many years ago. They are painted can lids with a center spray paint dot. The most famous is blue dot, a great mountain bike trail. The others are the Black, Red, Yellow. Years and years ago I removed downed timber to make some of these trails usable, and was one of the first people to start riding them. Old awesome trails brought back into use.

You can enter for this cache at two primary locations, off Doe Trail on what the locals (we) call "Bear Up" the other is off of Magnolia at the old power lines where the old boot trail started.

If your mountain biking in the area be sure to do the full Bear Up / Bear Down loop. Bear Down ends near the end of Doe Trail.

I was very saddened to see the waste of (for me at least) 20 years worth of fire wood that has been cut and piled for mass burning from some recent forest thinning operations. If you proceed NW from the cache and cross the clear cut to the saddle, a left down the game trail will take you back to the Doe Trail Start.

May 27th. Great hike with the kids and fun to find it. Had some troubles at first but we persevered.

Wow, it's been over 2.5 years since the last find. The cache is still in good shape. Thanks for the information on the dot trails. I saw blue and black dots while hiking up and over Winiger Peak nearby. I tried following the blue dot back to my car but it ended up going the wrong way. The black dot is called the Bear Trail near here according to a post on mtbproject. I distubed a bit ant colony by moving a medium sized rock near GZ. Finding no cache in any of the tiny any tunnels, I returned the rock and hopefully some peace to the ant colony.

Interesting info in the cache write-up about the "dot" trails. I don't know what trails I actually traversed, but I know I was on the Black Dot, because I found the cache and signed the cache log sheet! This is a neat area, and it's surprising that the cache is not being found on a more regular basis. 14 months had passed since it had previously been found. Thanks, maxgyver.
