Today, I made my first attempt to drive to Hot Springs, South Dakota to add a new state on my finds list. Though, as always the case with Colorado/Wyoming weather, the forecast is very unpredictable. I left Fort Collins thinking that I was going to encounter decent weather during the trip to SD. I was wrong (more like, the weather app was wrong!)! It was getting really windy and there were a lot of snow flakes falling from the sky. Not knowing if it was going to get better or worse, I decided to be smart, take precautions, and turn around, heading towards home. By the time I made the decision to turn around, I was just east of Cheyenne, WY, so fortunately I wasn't too far away from Fort Collins.

Feeling bummed that I couldn't continue on to SD, I decided to grab some caches in Cheyenne, WY and Wellington, CO instead. Fortunately the caching portion of the day wasn't too bad, as I managed to locate 14 caches. That definitely made up for my failed mission to SD, and I'm glad I took that last-minute opportunity to find some caches I would not expect to ever get.

This cache was a quick find. All is well. TFTC

Well, I was in Fort Collins heading home to Wellington and by chance checked my email. Saw a new cache had been published close to my route home so made a stop for it. Yes, I had those wide-open eyes staring down at me! Oops, I was discovered, despite my wariness! Fortunately, not by a muggle... Signed the log sheet in the {FTF} position and replaced those piercing eyes to their former location. Thanks for the FTF prize. Oh, as I was recording my FTF I see that the last time I had a "first" was on my birthday exactly 6 months ago today!
