Lost my Blackberry somewhere near here on Saturday.
I was skiing with my son teaching him how to jump cliffs and realized that my phone was no longer in my chest pocket. So we went back up, catching the last chair of the day, and looked for it following the same line. No luck. So on Sunday morning I decided to place a cache near where I thought I had lost it. Wouldn't you know it less than 3 hours later someone called my brother and said he had my phone and would leave it at the bottom of the lift.
Even though I got my phone back now there is a fun little cache in the Blue Sky Basin of Vail.
If you are skiing it is a rather easy approach, not sure how the summer approach would be but there is a road nearby.

Great day to be in the mountains - the flowers were thick and the sky was bluebird. TFTC!

Final week for Vail to be open and with the late spring snow, this area was still accessible. Great story. Cell phones are a common thing to find when you are hiking ski areas in the summer. I'm not sure how WingsAndTales and I came to the conclusion that we needed to take the Iron Mask run to get to the cache. But I was familiar with the top part of that run, and I am not fond of cornices. Plus the snow in that upper section was thick and cruddy, and I've already sacrificed one ACL up at Vail under those same conditions. Happily, we managed to escape the cornice. There was still some dry powder left, closer to the trees and the cache, which made the run worthwhile. The cache is in good shape. That's another Adrenalin Junkie cache ticked off my list. Thanks for a fun run!
