Just enough melting snow to find the cache. Last week would have been much more challenging. Road is muddy with deep snow ruts. High clearance a must.
Traded TBs.
Colorado's Single Malt Duo.

After work today I headed north to get an FTF, but missed it. I have a personal challenge and need an FTF today. My numb fingers fumbled for my FTF list and I saw a glimmer of hope. A cache near Central City. So I swung the Jeep west as quick as possible to avoid rush hour.
As I drove I watched the thermometer drop from 27 to 14 degrees. This is where a life lesson is learned. You see, the CO said not to try this in the snow. But my vacant brain doesn't recognize this as a helpful warning. Instead, it sees a challenge. As I neared the GZ the howling wind rocked my Jeep. The last half mile section of road to the cache is not maintained. No plowing. The drifts were sometimes 4 feet tall. Time to test the Rubicon. Dropped it into 4 wheel drive and chugged along. I made it, but wouldn't recommend anyone without a high clearance 4 wheel drive. Not until the snow is plowed or melts away.
I found a hard surface on which to park and headed out on foot. The cold wind stung my face. As usual, my coords bounced around, but settled in a promising area. Some kicking around in the 1 foot deep snow revealed the container. I discovered the coin and traded the TBs. While making the exchanges I realized that there was no log in the cache. That's ok, I have spares. Stamped my name in the FTF position, took a few pics and closed it up. I tucked the container back in its proper place, then made the journey back to the Jeep.
Although I planned on grabbing more caches, I was just too cold. Time to tuck my tail between my legs and head home. Thanks for a great, chilly, challenging, freezing, and fun cache!
