At Gross Reservoir, but a different location and perspective than "Dam Gross Cache". (This one is on the opposite side of the dam.)

Update 08/06/2013: After adopting this from HighMtnLakes, I wanted to keep it as close to the original as possible. I replaced the missing blue ammo box with a new green one filled with lots of swag (and it has a Geocache sticker on it.). Coordinates have been updated to N 39°56.903' W 105°21.367'. Description of how to get to the cache and warnings are the same as originally posted. Most recent parking coordinates have been added. Please come and visit this classic cache in such a beautiful location! Happy caching!
*** July 1 2002: I continue to get feedback that my posted coordinates may be a bit off, on the order of 30+ feet away from the "mid-air" location possibly pointed to by my coordinates. My GPS or my notes may have been wrong, but I believe the correct location for the cache itself (don't confuse with the parking location) is N39 56.9 & W105 21.37. The cache does *not* require a scramble up or down dangerous areas, but as noted originally, there *are* such dangerous areas (sheer drop-offs) near the cache. So please be careful, and if your GPS points to what you believe is a dangerous or inaccessible spot, don't go there. (Note the hint in the original description: the ammo can is/was placed on the ground between a tree and a sheltering rock.) Enjoy! *** CORRECTION *** (And with sincere apologies to AlanC and especially Kevin_Cassie for misleading parking directions!!) Park at 39*56'54" N, 105*21'13" W (or 39*56.90'N, 105*21.21'W). Walk slightly northwest and downhill til you get to a shallow gully, then walk west downhill in the gully about a quarter mile. Keep an eye on kids and dogs, as there are sheer drop-offs near the cache. Blue-painted ammo can behind a tree, sheltered by a rock. Contents include log book, disposable camera, match case, whistle, marbles, Power Bait, disposable poncho, and a travel bug. Have fun, be careful, enjoy the view!
