This cache covers south, east and north Boulder.
NOTE: You will need to have completed the "Viele Vexation" cache (GCCC0B) to complete this one.

Major mod made on 7/21/09 for new P9 and P10.

Since this cache was originally created in 2003, the world has been blessed with Google Earth which makes the solution much easier. Or you can tough it out with just your GPSr.

I suggest that you set your unit up to read in metric units because it affords better precision than English units when reading decimal miles or kilometers. However, for metricphobes, I will include English units thusly: 0.201 km. (0.125 mi.), but be prepared for more error. In case your unit only reads to 2 decimal places, round off the number.

Set your unit to TRUE, not magnetic.

Since the final 2 waypoints are located relatively close to each other, I also suggest that you navigate with the GOTO pointer display rather than the map display.

NOTE: Snow on the ground will hamper your progress.

Helpful tools:
a map of Boulder
a protractor
a ruler
a second GPS (handy, but certainly not necessary)

A waypoint P8 is given: 40 00.890, -105 13.921. Visiting this spot will make the rest of the cache easier, but it is not absolutely necessary if you have limited time available.

P9, the first point of this cache , lies on a bearing of 286.81 deg from P8, and a bearing of 334.26 deg from P7 of the "Viele Vexation" cache. These 2 lines intersect somewhere in north Boulder. Look around on the ground for a cover plate with 5 large letters. This is P9.

From P9, proceed 0.15 km (0.095 mi.) on a heading of 8.1 deg. This is the final waypoint P10. Look around for a marker plate with writing on it.

Using the code that "1" is the first letter in the next to the last line printed on the marker, "2" is the second letter, etc, decode this 5-letter word:

26, 20, 5, 9, 19

You will immediately know if your calculations were successful.

For 10 points of extra credit, what is the significance of the name of this cache?

To verify successful completion, email me the decoded word on the marker plate and the significance of the cache title (optional).

#41990 Found while out grabbing a few caches around Boulder this morning before heading to the airport to fly home. Really enjoyed visiting Colorado for the Thanksgiving holiday. Having just completed Viele Vexation and reading that the first parts were needed for this cache, I figured I stop to do this one too since I had some time. I was a little concerned about where my projected solution was taking me, but lo and behold, when I got to within about 20 ft of where I projected, there was the object that I needed. Guess I'm pretty good at GPS orienteering after all. haha Made my way to the final location and easily decoded the clue for logging this virtual puzzle. Thanks for the fun tour of Boulder. Email with answer sent. TFTC

TFTC Fun puzzle and navigation problem for a newbie. At least now I can use more of the features on my GPS.

Found with sneezlepuss. These sorts of puzzles are a lot of fun and get us out to places we probably wouldn't have otherwise visited. Thanks for putting them together.

Thanks to some technology that wasn't available in when this cache was created in 2003 I was able to calculate the final coords without completing Viele Vexation OR visiting any of the waypoints. Amazing! I will have to make it down to Harlow soon to complete Viele Vexation... I wasn't quite able to read the signs from space.

This has been on my list forever, I'm not sure why it's taken me so long. It was one of the closest to my home that I had not found. Little did I know, the final was MUCH closer to home.

I braved the wind and did 2 very short walks this morning - Hall Ranch and Bald Mountain (almost got blown over). And finally got the webcam in town.

Catching up on logging, animjason and I found this on a day spent in Boulder so we could cache and do the Tea Tour. Jason sent the answer, this was a great one, I had fun with Viele Vexation too when we did that one. Thanks!
