The cache is located along Mesa Top Trail on the North Table Mountain Open Space Trails. There are several locations along the bottom of the mountain to access this trail. I will suggest the trailhead on West 58th Ave across the road from Crestone Street. The hike is about 1.5 miles from here.Another access point is on Highway 93 north of Golden, across from the carwash. There is plenty of parking and the trail is an easier hike.
The cache is in a small-medium plastic ammo can. A new critter is guarding the cache. Smile

Today after work I opted to take a trail walk and grab a bunch of caches near North Table Mountain. It was just over a 4 mile hike. The weather started with light rain and my journey ended in sunshine. The weather was great. I saw one hawk, several crows (or ravens) and deer footprints. I was a little concerned with Table Mountain's reputation for high rattlesnake concentrations. Thankfully, I didn't see one. But it did cause one scare.
I was reaching toward this cache when I startled a large grasshopper. It's wings made the sound of a bug zapper as it soared away from my head. My head, filled with thoughts of rattlesnakes, froze. My pulse soared, my breath fled, and I screamed as my brain made the connection between the noise and my fear of being bitten. But a few seconds of being frozen like a deer and my brain figured out that the grasshopper scared me. There was no snake.
Good scare here. But I survived :) Logbook cover has a boxer pup. My boxer passed away several years ago. Still miss her. Thanks for a cool container and a great time. TFTC!

I'm working on a challenge cache where I need 42 more regular size caches. So I headed over to Golden to make some finds and chip away at that number. I parked nearby in the subdivision and hiked around to grab a few of the regulars on the Table Mountain trails. This wound up being my last find on the trails, the mud was clearing up but I think I'll get the others while hiking in from another parking lot. My phone had a little trouble zeroing in, but I spotted the bogey from above. Everything is in good shape at the cache. Thanks for the smiley! Find #2182.
