We are always amazed at the ability of trees to grow on rocks, and this little guy is no exception. All you need is a seed, seed bed (soil or other organic material containing vital nutrients), and water. Located among a beautiful rock garden with plenty of rocks to climb on and explore, we love getting off the beaten trail to find these wonders of nature. Tucked into this rock is also an ammo box containing lots of items to trade out.

Take time to explore this area - it provides a unique view of Squaw Mountain and Chief Mountain to the northwest. And be sure to come back to this cache to see who wins the battle of rock vs. root. (Spoiler Alert: you simply need to take a look around this forest and remember that you are in the Rocky Mountains)

Trackable waiting for the FTF.

I was surprised to find a trail leading right up to this one. Finding the cache somewhat exposed added to my surprise. I stamped my name and then returned the cool, durable container to it's hiding spot with a little more cover.
Today I headed to the hills in seek of fame, glory, and caching gold. I found no fame, but did make an FTF. Great day in the hills. The trails are typical of pre-spring - snow, ice, and mud. Somehow I managed to tweak my knee. Hopefully ice helps it out tonight.
Thanks for the cache!

I figured out a good way to get up to this cache today. The snow in the area varied between non-existent to almost knee deep! I had a great time out here mostly off trail finding a bunch of caches. I made the find here at 10:10 am.

I traded trackables.

FTF at 16:14 with the Short Dog, IN THE SNOW! So I saw these new caches go up by the Mt. Porg's clan, and knew that I needed to make a run at least one of them. I'm currently on a heater (31 days straight) on finds, and we've been trying to hide at least one or more new caches each day of this month. Problem is, it's my oldest daughter Madi's birthday, (who is responsible for turning me on to this game) and I only had about a 45 minute window before the festivities began. I grabbed the Geodog Shorty, and we set out on a quick drive. It was snowing pretty hard when we arrived at the parking lot and thankfully there was only one other vehicle, and we were betting they weren't cachers! A quick walk from the lot, we were at the GZ in no time, and shortly thereafter had the booty in hand! We are so happy to have another FTF from you guys!! This cache earns a favorite from us for the following reasons. #1 FTF, and keeping the streak alive #2 We have another family hooked, and hiding! #3 It's our favorite kind of container, the Ammo Can! #4 Fantastic Locale #5 It's less than a mile from home. I left the TB for the next to find, I'm currently fostering 3 of them. Stamped the log and ran home to party! TFTC
