Short hike along an interesting section of the Arkansas Valley Conduit.
Snaking along the edge of cliffs above the valley of the Arkansas River, the Arkansas River Conduit looks like the ruined construction of a mysterious, ancient civilization, hiding the secret of its existence in this rocky waste.
The cache is a plastic storage container concealed in a location that invites the seeker to take one of two paths. The easy one affords great views of the Arkansas River where it enters Pueblo Reservoir. The harder path follows the 80 year old conduit. Part of the reward is a look at a fairly intact inverted siphon that carried water across an arroyo.
Be careful at all times along either trail. Footing can be skittery. The road out to the parking area is somewhat dreadful with washboard and some sharp turns.
