You will pass the Monarch Mountain Lodge located on the left side of the highway. From there, continue traveling for 2.75 miles. Watch for a dirt pullout on the left side of the highway at N38 31.886 W106 19.420. The trailhead is located across the highway at N38 31.897 W106 19.427 from the parking pullout. There is a nice Forest Service Trailhead sign and registration box. If you reach the turn-off to Monarch Park campground, you have gone too far.
