Checking my caches today 5/17. Alittle chrisp but still okay.

Easy parking. Its a small container with travel bug.
This is a true story that was brought to my attention by 'the potter' a team mate of ours who is owner of the travel bug. The cache is big enough for you to add small items.
Antonio Neroni aka Bovori had a nice little truck farm and orchard here on River Road back in 1907. He'd park his truck along a busy road and sell the fruit and vegetables, that he raised, from the back. The love of his life was for his housekeeper, Antonette Palmeto. Evidently, it wasn't returned. The day came when he wouldn't take rejection anymore and he stabbed her to death. His hired man was old man Buffetti, a blind and deaf vagrant who slept in the shed. While he slept, Neroni slit his throat.
Somehow the Minichiello Brothers were drawn into the ruckus. They too were later discovered hacked to pieces.
Upon investigation, the gruesome bloodbath came to light when dismembered body parts were discovered buried in the garden. Bloody knives and hatchets were found under the apple trees. Wheel barrow tracks led from there to the rivers edge where, to the horror of downstream towns Concrete and Cement, human lungs and entrails were found.
Silent Neroni was locked up.
Undercover agent Frank Sedesky aka Sandesko bravely had himself locked into the same cell. Pretending to be a member of the dreaded Black Hand, an organization of paid killers from Eastern Europe, he promised Antonio membership and protection if he was a great enough killer.
Neroni spilled the beans.
He confessed to killing the first time when he was 12, still living in Italy. He moved to Colorado after killing 3 others. He told how he craved human blood and roasted human was his favorite dish. Broth made from childrens bones made the best soup.
In prison he was hated! He was always picking fights and biting chunks from fellow inmates. On Aug 20, 1924 he died of traumatic shock after an altercation with 2 prisoners and 1 guard. Investigation proved that his guard, a Mr Tillman, had lent a hand in dispatching him. Little interest was shown in punishing Mr. Tillman and he served only 6 months in perfect protection among the greatful inmates.

The cache appears to have once been in a tree, but the tree has fallen over, leaving the cache on the ground. The log in it has water damage and needs replacing as well.

I'm surprised more people don't comment on this story behind the cache. Do people even read descriptions anymore or are they so obsessed with the numbers they forget why they started caching in the first place? This has to be the most gruesome cache location I have ever visited in 15 years of geocaching! What a remarkable story with striking characters. Things were certainly handled differently in times past. Thank you for posting this story and the easy P&G! No need to get muddy at all!
