Cache is a large sandwich size “ear flap” plastic container. This site offers nearly year-round access. This is a wetlands area so please return cache to its above ground level location. The road into the area is rough but accessible by most vehicles except during heavy snow. We suggest parking at N38 30.987 W106 59.644. The track further in can be quite challenging and a short hike is still required.
McCabe Lane Wetlands is a wetlands reclamation area with an abundance of wildlife to enjoy. Seasonally you may enjoy ducks, geese, great blue herons, sandhill cranes, bald eagles, occasionally a colony of yellow headed blackbirds plus many more species. On the ground you may see everything from frogs, to deer, chippers, even bobcats.

What a beautiful area. One of my favorites in the Gunnison area. The box is in great shape as are the contents. The zip lock bag the box is in is torn up pretty bad, but the box and everything inside are good. TFTC

TFTC! I was really worried as I got about 300-400 ft from GZ. It looked like I was going to get blocked by water. Lo-and-behold there was a little animal trail to travel through. Neat! Geo-dog loved it out here. A nice flat walk on grass with water nearby. The first body of water he jumped was gross. Fortunatly, there was a nice clean pond on the way out to get him cleaned up in.
