My first traditional hide!  Caught the geo bug with the help of another geocacher in October 2022.  So in memory of my first full year in geocaching, I took some memorabilia from the beginning of 2023 (New Years Eve celebration) to show my appreciation to an extraordinary 2023, and welcoming in a new year 2024 with an abundance of new geocaching & adventures.

My first hide took some careful consideration.  I wanted to place it in a location that I hike to with nature and ease of the location.  This location is along an old narrow-gauge trail, has easy access for all with calming comfort sounds of the North Fork South Platte River.  The area offers plenty of hiking, fishing, horse back riding and more as well.

I’ve included a travel bug that I grabbed from Texas in my geocaching adventures there!  Am happy to be a part of the Geo group there, DAWGs.  Don’t get me wrong, I am a Colorado Native and love it here!

Wishing y'all a wonderful 2024.

Thank you to the geocacher that taught me the joy of Geocaching.

[FTF] #147 @11:47! WOO-HOO! Happy New Year everybody, and first FTF of 2024! I absolutely adore Pine Valley Ranch Park and I've spent quite a bit of time here over the past decade or so. Back before the pandemic hit, I volunteered with Trout Unlimited for years and we introduced hundreds of kids to fishing for the trout in the lake. Then the Geocaching bug bit and I managed to find every single cache hidden over here, I'm fortunate to live about 10 miles away as the crow flies.

Today I'm enjoying a chilly walk with my Geopup Boone Dog, whom I rescued about a year and a half ago. The very first cache we ever found together was GC9XYXK (cute baby pic of him in log) across the lake, and it too was an FTF. Since that fateful first cache, he has been by my side for hundreds of other adventures and a thousand smileys along the way. The total distance was an easy 1 mile round trip, and the coordinates were fine. I happily added my purple stamp in Pole Position, snapped a pic, swapped Travel Bugs and replaced as found. I would add that the container's location is a bit precarious, and I would hate to see some critter scurry off with it. I would also like to add a favorite point for visiting this special place once again, thanks to Bhappy947 to a nice new addition to the local game board. More please! TFTC
