FTF goes to Path Pacer!

A great, kid friendly cache on a short 3 mile round trip hike (or 9 miles if your up to climbing Signal Mountain).

Start at the trailhead I listed, follow the road up until the wooden gate, then before you get there, turn right. OBSERVE THE TICK, BEAR, AND MOUNTAIN LION WARNINGS on the sign at your turn off. Plan your route carefully. I do not reccomend you bushwhack the whole way. Follow the trails to Signal Mountain until you have to bushwhack. You will know the place where this is hidden when you see it.

Forgot how steep that trail is! I have been up in this area several times in the past, but not recently. Good hike! Good to get back up on this trail again. Found the cache with about 1/2" of water inside! Inspected cache and found that there is a little hole in the lid. Looks like little teeth were working on it! Dang little fuzzy woodland creatures! We emptied and dried everything as best we could. We had an extra ziploc snack bag, so we double bagged the log and pen. We replaced the cache in it's hide with the lid secured tight, but on it's side with the hole towards the top, in hopes that any water will run off instead of pooling on the lid and running down inside. Then we camo'd/sheltered it with some pieces of bark that were there. Hope that keeps the bulk of the weather out of it until it can be tended to. Nice cache in a quite area. Thank you for taking us up on a trail that we have been away from for too long. Beautiful area with awesome views along the climb up. Nice one! :-)

I hiked up Signal Mountain today with a friend and with my puppy Orizaba. On our descent hike, I made the short detour off the Bulwark Ridge Trail to locate this cache and sign the cache log. It's in a nice location. Thanks for it, Frank30509!

Got caught in a thunderstorm and sheets of rain, but it sure was fun! TFTC!

Since I live nearby, I've had this one on my radar since it was published, but the snow put me off until today. I might have done better to wait a few more days though! I talked my poor old 70-yr-old neighbor into coming with me, along with her 5-month-old puppy, and we took 1.5 hrs to slog through almost a foot of snow in some places to reach this cache. Even the adult dogs were having a tough time. Still, it was a gorgeous day and the dogs needed a good hike, so it was all good, and it was only about 40 mins to get back.

I was concerned I wouldn't be able to find it in the snow, but fortunately it was in a dry spot. I signed the log and left some swag. Should be pretty easy to find now, what with my monster footprints going right to it. Thanks for the cache! Maybe it will encourage people to finish the hike all the way to Signal Mt, where there's a benchmark and a fabulous view (but no cache).
