CONGRATULATIONS TO MooseTag FOR THE FTF!!

THIS IS A PUZZLE CACHE. IT IS NOT LOCATED AT THE LISTED COORDINATES. Do not go there. Instead, read details about the cache below, have fun discovering the locations of the transformer cabinets, and then calculate the coordinates for the physical cache.

Fort Collins’ residents and visitors are blessed with a diverse array of interesting art forms viewable from public vantages. Each has been created by a local artist. This puzzle is one in a continuing series that requires locating specific art works or related structures (such as publicly-displayed clocks, unique buildings or conspicuous features, transformer cabinets) that are shown in photographs. Each is within the city limits of Fort Collins. Once found, simple arithmetic or other manipulations of the cabinet’s coordinates need to be made in order to calculate the actual location of the cache. Others of my puzzle caches of this genre include:

GC40N9R What Time Ya Got, Fort Collins?
GC3F8DW Ride a Painted Pony
GC20VW5 Disneyland.... Here?
GC4VJZ3, etc. Where ART Thou, Fort Collins? [Series]
GC5JJZE, etc. Transform Yourself, Fort Collins [This Series]

Ten pieces of artwork on electric transformer cabinets in Fort Collins are featured as images through photo hot links on this cache page. Each is assigned a unique letter. To calculate the cache coordinates you will need to find the locations of all 10 of these transformers. Finding certain transformer cabinets might be challenging, but by pursuing them you will probably learn more about The Choice City and its amenities. Enjoy your hunt!

After you have discovered the location of each transformer determine it’s Longitude. Then use the .X00 (tenth) digit position of the Longitude’s decimal minutes in the simple equations below to calculate the coordinates of the physical cache container and its geocaching treasure: its log sheet! For example, if the Longitude of the cabinet  is W 105° 07.671, the number to use is “6". Do NOT round up unless specifically instructed to do so for a particular photograph.

A = ____________________________Place        ______Longitude Digit
B = ____________________________Place        ______Longitude Digit
C = ____________________________Place        ______Longitude Digit
D = ____________________________Place        ______Longitude Digit
E = ____________________________Place        ______Longitude Digit
F = ____________________________Place         ______Longitude Digit
G = ____________________________Place        ______Longitude Digit
H = ____________________________Place        ______Longitude Digit
J =  ____________________________Place        ______Longitude Digit
K = ____________________________Place        ______Longitude Digit

P=K-3

Q=C-J+8

R=E+3

S=G+1

W=H-2

X=B+2

Y=D-F+4

Z=A-3

The coordinates for the cache are:

N 40° 3P.QRS

W 105° 0W.XYZ

Enjoy learning more about The Choice City as you seek out the locations of the 10 transformer cabinets needed to solve this puzzle. It’s a darned nice city, and this cache should enhance your familiarity with certain of its special dimensions. The cache is a green matchstick capsule.

I extend my appreciation to DES, whose caches in the “Where Are You...” series inspired this puzzle cache.

The travels for today brought us close to the coordinates we puzzled out for this cache. We had to stop and see if we had managed to solve another in the transformer series. Looked around the area I remembered being near GZ, while Dud&Plato was downloading the saved cache information. Once we had a better lock on the actual coordinates I was able to spot this cache. I had a lot of fun searching for all these transformers around town. I'm happy to give this series a little love and visit some lonely caches. TFTC|SL

Motivated by another find in the series, we increased our hunt for more transformer art. Got off on a few tiny missteps but spotted them quickly, so didn't lead to much head scratching. At first, I wasn't totally convinced with the final numbers we came up with, but mapping it out a bit, it.... could work. Let's go see! Pulled up and hunted in a nearby location for just a second, but I said to myself 'no, that's not really Denali41's style most times.' As I was going back to the car to grab additional tools, I heard an excited 'found it!' - yup, big smile time. These are just so darn rewarding to slap your name on. Cache was exactly where the coordinates said it would be like always. Another set of transformers that don't have to be focused on for a bit, while the others get the magnifying glass.... I think we're hot on the trails of the others! Perhaps... we can get another in tonight? That's a story for another log.... Everything with the cache and log and puzzles are in great shape! Get out there and find this one people! A pleasure once again!

I took my puppies Orizaba and Chimborazo on a long walk today; we passed near several of my owned caches, including this one. I did maintenance checks on each of them. This cache is in its correct place and is in fine condition.

Away with the blue frowny, replaced by the little yellow smiley! It still took a few minutes' looking, but with the experience of two of the other transformer series behind us, we knew we had to stick with it. We both agreed that finding that little container brought on a feeling of exhilaration, not to mention high fives all around! This series is just plain spectacular! Thanks for putting in all the effort involved to make these work.

Because of a DNF on this cache I've meant to stop by the final and check on it. Today I did this. The cache is in place and in good condition.

Even though we came up empty-handed at the final, this series of caches is one of our top four all-time favorites. Now if we can just get little help from our geosenses for the next trip to FC. Sending a note to CO asking verification of the coordinates.

I've looked for this one a couple of times. Even after I verified the coords with the CO I had problems. Today in the rain Hubby walked right to it. TFTC

Before the recent snowstorm I spent time checking many of my urban and farm caches and making any repairs that were necessary. This cache and the transformers are in position. The cache awaits finders.
