CONGRATULATIONS TO MooseTag FOR THE FTF!!

THIS IS A PUZZLE CACHE. IT IS NOT LOCATED AT THE LISTED COORDINATES. Do not go there. Instead, read details about the cache below, have fun discovering the locations of the transformer cabinets, and then calculate the coordinates for the physical cache.

Fort Collins’ residents and visitors are blessed with a diverse array of interesting art forms viewable from public vantages. Each has been created by a local artist. This puzzle is one in a continuing series that requires locating specific art works or related structures (such as publicly-displayed clocks, unique buildings or conspicuous features, transformer cabinets) that are shown in photographs. Each is within the city limits of Fort Collins. Once found, simple arithmetic or other manipulations of the object’s coordinates need to be made in order to calculate the actual location of the cache. Others of my puzzle caches of this genre include:

GC40N9R What Time Ya Got, Fort Collins?
GC3F8DW Ride a Painted Pony
GC20VW5 Disneyland.... Here?
GC4VJZ3, etc. Where ART Thou, Fort Collins? [Series]
GC5JJZE, etc. Transform Yourself, Fort Collins [This Series]

Ten pieces of artwork on electric transformer cabinets in Fort Collins are featured as images through photo hot links on this cache page. Each is assigned a unique letter. To calculate the cache coordinates you will need to find the locations of all 10 of these transformers. Finding certain transformer cabinets might be challenging, but by pursuing them you will probably learn more about The Choice City and its amenities. Enjoy your hunt!

After you have discovered the location of each transformer determine it’s Latitude. Then use the .X00 (tenth) digit position of the Latitude’s decimal minutes in the simple equations below to calculate the coordinates of the physical cache container and its geocaching treasure: its log sheet! For example, if the Latitude of the cabinet  is N 40° 32.671, the number to use is “6". Do NOT round up unless specifically instructed to do so for a particular photograph.

A = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
B = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
C = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
D = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
E = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
F = ____________________________Place         ______Latitude Digit
G = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
H = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
J =  ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
K = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit

P=H-1

Q=A+K+3

R=G

S=F

W=B+E+2

X=C+A+3

Y=D

Z=J

The coordinates for the cache are:

N 40° 3P.QRS

W 105° 0W.XYZ

Enjoy learning more about The Choice City as you seek out the locations of the 10 transformer cabinets needed to solve this puzzle. It’s a darned nice city, and this cache should enhance your familiarity with certain of its special dimensions. The cache is a medium-sized medicine vial that is well hidden. Look at ground level.

I extend my appreciation to DES, whose caches in the “Where Are You...” series inspired this puzzle cache.

Whoo hoo! Another transform yourself in the bag! This one was a bit harder than the others for me... and several techniques had to be employed that I didn't intend to use at first. Slowly, the pieces started to fit. I wasn't entirely sure on some of my info, so wasn't entirely sure on the final that we came up with, but it looked reasonable enough. Was glad to get verification that we were, in fact, correct, so had to stop in today and put my ink on the log as well! Have a few notes for Steve on this one that I will shoot his way, that I'm guessing will make people work on this one a bit easier in the future. Really fun, and pouring over this one in detail made me see a lot more art that was anticipated or likely intended, but I just see that as all the better. Another one down... and a few more to go! Everything with the cache itself and log are in fine shape. Thanks for yet another adventure and of course TFTC|SL

Over the past few weeks I've been trying to spend part of my lunch walking to any cache within range. I thought I had gotten all of them, but then I solved this with Dud&Plato last week and it was in the right range. We weren't entirely sure we had our coordinates correct, but today looked too nice to stay inside so I went out to find this one without him. The coords we came up with were spot on. I expect he'll make a pit stop soon to come sign the log as well. Once again, I had a lot of fun hunting down all the transformers. TFTC|SL

Realized we had this one solved for a year and I hadn't gone and signed the log. This wraps up the transformers. This was a great series. Hmmm, maybe it's time to attack the clocks. Thanks for the fun and challenge and the fun of seeing some really neat transformer art!!!

I have had this one completed from almost when it came out. Think I missed being able to get the First to find so let it sit a while. Now was a great time to claim when I needed a Mystery Cache day. Snagged it on the way home from Arthur's Rock that we climbed today. TFTC

When I was in the area today taking care of some car-related issues, I checked on some owned caches. This one is in fine condition, and the log is dry. Come find it!

Before the recent snowstorm I spent time checking many of my urban and farm caches and making any repairs that were necessary. This cache and the transformers are in position. The cache awaits finders.
