CONGRATULATIONS TO MooseTag FOR THE FTF!!

THIS IS A PUZZLE CACHE. IT IS NOT LOCATED AT THE LISTED COORDINATES. Do not go there. Instead, read details about the cache below, have fun discovering the locations of the transformer cabinets, and then calculate the coordinates for the physical cache.

Fort Collins’ residents and visitors are blessed with a diverse array of interesting art forms viewable from public vantages. Each has been created by a local artist. This puzzle is one in a continuing series that requires locating specific art works or related structures (such as publicly-displayed clocks, unique buildings or conspicuous features, transformer cabinets) that are shown in photographs. Each is within the city limits of Fort Collins. Once found, simple arithmetic or other manipulations of the object’s coordinates need to be made in order to calculate the actual location of the cache. Others of my puzzle caches of this genre include:

GC40N9R What Time Ya Got, Fort Collins?
GC3F8DW Ride a Painted Pony
GC20VW5 Disneyland.... Here?
GC4VJZ3, etc. Where ART Thou, Fort Collins? [Series]
Transform Yourself, Fort Collins [This series]

Ten pieces of  art on electric transformer cabinets  in Fort Collins are featured as images through photo hot links on this cache page. Each is assigned a unique letter. To calculate the cache coordinates you will need to find the locations of all 10 of these transformers. Finding certain transformer cabinets might be challenging, but by pursuing them you will probably learn more about The Choice City and its amenities. Enjoy your hunt!

After you have discovered the location of each transformer determine it’s Latitude. Then use the .X00 (tenth) digit position of the Latitude’s decimal minutes in the simple equations below to calculate the coordinates of the physical cache container and its geocaching treasure: its log sheet! For example, if the Latitude of the cabinet  is N 40° 32.671, the number to use is “6". Do NOT round up unless specifically instructed to do so for a particular photograph.

A = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
B = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
C = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
D = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
E = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
F = ____________________________Place         ______Latitude Digit
G = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
H = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
J =  ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit
K = ____________________________Place        ______Latitude Digit

P=B

Q=J

R=E-1

S=A+H-2

W=F-J

X=C-2

Y=G+D

Z=K+D-7

The coordinates for the cache are:

N 40° 3P.QRS

W 105° 0W.XYZ

[*A NOTE ON TRANSFORMER G. THE TENTH DIGIT POSITION OF ITS LATITUDE IS CLOSE TO A CHANGE FROM ONE DIGIT TO ANOTHER. IN THIS CASE USE THE HIGHER OF THE TWO POSSIBLE DIGITS!]

Enjoy learning more about The Choice City as you seek out the locations of the 10 transformer cabinets needed to solve this puzzle. It’s a darned nice city, and this cache should enhance your familiarity with certain of its special dimensions.

I extend my appreciation to DES, whose caches in the “Where Are You...” series inspired this puzzle cache.

This one made us work for it a bit more. After getting a long way along on this one we figured we had a good idea of where to hunt. Looking at dusk/nightfall, certainly made it more difficult, and there was some second-guessing involved. Didn't post a DNF on that one, as I thought it was worth another trip with more visibility. Sure enough, today with the aid of some sun make somewhat quick work of the final and wondered how I missed it the first time. Nice! Seems the hard work and paths we followed resorted in the smile. Few notes sent the CO's way, but another wonderful cache this one was! Get a notebook and get to hunting my friends. These are finds you'll remember. Thanks for another great one! A pleasure to sign another transformer, 2 left! :)

Finally managed to get back and look for this cache during the daylight. It definitely helped us spot what we missed the first time in the fading light. Decided to come back today since it was reasonably nice out after a light drizzle this morning. Some of the previous logs made us a bit unsure if we had our coordinates correct, but we looks like we had things right after all. I'm happy to give this series some more love. TFTC|SL

Finally! The last in the series is done! Found the replacement cache and log quickly. Thanks to the CO for a helpful nudge in the correct direction. The cache is lonely no more. SL, thanks for the cache and the series!

Based on a recent discussion with Siff I checked on this cache today. It was missing, and I replaced the container in its hiding hole. Please make certain to replace it carefully, so it retains the correct position.

Found this one between rain showers. The grass in the cache area was 10 feet tall!!! And very wet. We both got our shoes and pant legs soaked, but we found it. Great little hiding hole. TFTC

Before the recent snowstorm I spent time checking many of my urban and farm caches and making any repairs that were necessary. This cache and the transformers are in position. The cache awaits finders.

Found with Cache U. This is the culmination of a lot of hours searching online, virtual and real driving around FC checking out artwork we never noticed before. We now have a new appreciation for the Choice City. Thanks for all the fun!

Found with Sam_I_AM. This is a bittersweet find, as it completes the transformer series. We've had a lot of fun on this; thanks for a wonderfully assembled series!

Sixth find of the series.. I gathered most the transformers in this series in the month of February, sometimes feeling like I wasn't making progress, other days finding quite a few. I have had the coords for this one for a better part of a month now, but I wasn't in this part of town until today. It was a quick stroll to GZ and a quick find. The cache was hidden well. My favorite transformer in this series was D; the scene was quite unexpected. TFTPC.
