Pretty walk in the woods on the outskirts of Durango.
Park at the Animas City Mountain trailhead parking lot at N37 18.165 W107 52.383. To get to this trailhead, begin on Main Street (Rte 550). Go west on 32nd street. Take a right onto West 4th Avenue. Go one block, and then the road turns to dirt and that's the trailhead parking lot.

Just after the gate & interpretive sign, the trail splits. You want to go left, up the mountain. The first part of this walk is steep, but persevere, it's easier up above. After you're in the ponderosas, a side trail heads west off of the main Animas City Mountain trail at N 37 18.392 W 107 52.574. Take this faint trail, which skirts the curve of the cliff. It's much easier if you use this trail than if you bushwack throuh the woods. The cache is within sight of the trail.

Cache is a Tupperware with a dark blue lid.
Original contents:
map postcard, troll keychain, yo-yo, skateboard keychain, toy car, Harry Potter 'jewels', scarf tether, toy police badge, bracelet, shell

To return to the parking spot:
Head east along the trail, which is rather faint near the cache but clearer as you go. It will drop you onto the main Animas City trail at N 37 18.392 W 107 52.574. There are several side trails, but stay on the major trail as it switchbacks down the mountain to the parking area.

To go on to Soul City Downtown:
Yes, there is a cliff between Soul City Uptown and Soul City Downtown. There is a route up/down not far off to the west; use your scouting abilities! The route requires bushwacking, using hands and feet, and being very careful. Once you reach the bottom, head away from the cliff (go south) until you strike a trail (for example, at N37 18.565 W 107 52.835). Follow the trail east and it will take you to Soul City Downtown cache.

p.s. Another cache, called A.T.M., is also located near the Animas City Mountain trail at N37 18.260 W 107 52.506. You can visit both my Soul City caches and also A.T.M. cache, in about a 2 hour loop. Either go ParkingSpot-->Downtown-->up the cliff-->Uptown-->A.T.M.-->ParkingSpot (the easier way, I think) or the reverse: parkingspot-->A.T.M.-->Uptown-->down the cliff-->Downtown-->parking spot.

For the last several hundred yards before this cache, the view from the trail (which is near the edge of the cliff) is truly spectacular, rivaling that from Animas Cache. The trail is now quite well developed and easy to follow. The junction with the Animas Mountain Trail is not marked, but is not far after the last sign on that system. Go through two widely spaced posts on the main trail straight ahead at that sign, and in a few minutes spot the trail to the cache on the left. This one gets a favorite point for bringing us to the great view.

Great hike. Along the cliffs was beautiful, but a little sketchy with kids. Thanks for the history

Great trail. Could not have asked for a more beautiful day. Hiked in the counterclockwise direction and found this cache neatly tucked away as we headed down. TFTC Dance Gypsy!!

Animjason and I made last-minute plans to take a quick road-trip to Durango, The Spanish Peaks, and back home in order for both of us to complete the Colorado Escoffier Challenge which requires finding the top 10 oldest caches in Colorado. He just needed GC3DF, while I needed that one plus GC19. We left early on Tuesday morning and got back in the early afternoon on Wednesday. We worked very efficiently but also made the most of our trip by finding other significant caches along the way including two Wherigos, a few Virtuals, and several EarthCaches. We also made sure to get cache finds in as many counties as we could.

All required answers have already been sent to the cache owners, pictures will be added to this log as needed, and the Wherigo finds have also been logged on wherigo.com.

This is day 1194 of my current daily caching streak. Thanks for helping me to extend it by another day.

TFTC!

Went on an impromptu trip with K of KJKLOCK to Durango to complete my Escoffier Challenge. He has able to also finish his with GC19 on the way back.

We left early Tuesday, and grabbed a few caches on the way. Then spent the majority of the day in Durango and Silverton. Then drove to the Spanish Peaks, of course caching along the way. Caught some sleep near the arch, then cached our way home. Super busy, but fun!

Did this one first then took interesting route to the south one.
Thanks Dance Gypsy! Logged Soul City Uptown using a seventh galaxy!
