Souffle is one of the most difficult desserts to prepare. Every stage has to be perfect. From the stiff egg whites the oven. One mistake and you will be serving a pancake. Copper Mountain: Ski or snowboard in the winter. A nice hike in the summer. Look at the puzzle picture below to find out where the cache is at. Ernie66 was First to Find!

Solved the puzzle during the last week of the 2017 ski season at Copper when the area for the final was closed, so saved this up for this year. Pleased to find another chefstern classic in a happy place. First 5:5.

Working on this one

Well today was the day to attempt his one. I came, I saw, I conquered. This wasn't my only reason for coming to Colorado but it was one of the things I looked forward to since I solved the puzzle after learning we were going to be in the area. After realizing that the starting point was at the bottom of the mountain, not the top as I had foolishly believed, getting to the first location wasn't too bad although there was a big deer guarding the way. But about 0.3 miles into the second leg I was ready to give up. I thought that the terrain and altitude were going to be just too much for this flatlander from St. Louis. After consulting my GPSr though, which kept telling me I could be at GZ in under an hour and that the terrain would get a little less steep I trudged on. After a bit more very strenuous climbing things actually got pleasant as I walked through the woods. When I saw the actual I was elated. As I sat and rested a chipmunk or squirrel ran up along the log I was sitting on and disappeared. After finishing I really think that the terrain rating should be increased, oh wait it is already maxed out. I think this might be easier in the winter, but I also haven't skied in 30 years. I'll have to thank the PT person who helped me recover from a hamstring injury earlier this spring. TFTH and the challenge. It was quite a day. Getting down was as hard as getting up. But I did pick up 7 other caches on the descent.
Made the final!

So last winter when I did a little maintenence on this one I made a HUGE mistake at stage one. I don't know if it was the altitude or alcohol or both but I botched it big time. Luckily it didn't cost huffinpuffin2 the find earlier this summer. I was in the area today so I fixed my silly mistake. She's good to go now!

Finally made it out here! Love this place!

Puzzle was a steady but fun grind, perfect project for a deep winter night.

Sunny n breezy day for the hike. Enjoy this terrain...really!

At gz, coords were spot-on and found container. Then the surprise! And more searching commenced up, down and all around. A new puzzle we could not crack! For now....then decided it was time for pastry!

Thanks for the great puzzle and hunt!

With the CO's blessing I did a little maintenance today. Those wishing to find this one will have a pleasant surprise when they get started.

Thanks!

Happy to have logged a 5/5 now. I have to give credit to Team Dennis and his many geo-friends for making this possible. Finding the final stage was a good time. Like 2 kids building a snow fort, we dug out the final. TFTC, and thank you to all who helped.

So we posted a DNF on this one the other day. After putting out a distress call to a few contacts I was able to find someone who could offer a helping hand on this one. As the day wound down today Mr D and I were able to put pen to paper. This is his 1st 5/5 and my 10th. Totally a favorite point and worthy of the D/T ratings.

I'd like to give a major shout out to my buddy Delkan1066 for chewing through the puzzle so quickly it made my head spin. I would probably be on the main cache page without him. This is easily in the top 3 most difficult puzzles I've seen him solve. Don't worry bud...the beer is on ice.

I'd also like to thank Denali41, Ernie66 and WingsAndTails for the extra encouragement. If our paths ever cross again I'll be happy to buy the first round.

Finally I plan to get out later this week and do a little maintenance to assist future finders so they don't have to do things the hard way like we did. Of course without all of that it might have made this one slightly less memorable!

Fingers crossed for a good outcome! We recently solved this challenging puzzle, in preparation for some fun hiking up into the thin Summit County air this coming summer. This is our number one goal. Number Two (and 3,4&5?) is Pasticceria, so we've enjoyed reading the recent logs as they come in.

Hope all turns out well! CoolBigSmile
