We found this special hidey hole overlooking the Beaver Brook Watershed and Reservoir on Chrismas Day, 2018, to celebrate our 250th find. The terrain rating applies if you park where we've suggested, and make the relatively easy but off-trail walk through the forest. Do note that the elevation is around 9,200 feet; the air is thin and it can get very cold and windy at times. The terrain rating is significantly more difficult if you park at either trailhead for the Beaver Brook Reservoir.

Please re-hide the cache as you found it to preserve the difficulty rating.

You are looking for a small, official geocache tube in a near-perfect hidey hole, situated to help it keep an eye out for muggles but for muggles to be clueless of its presence.

Be mindful that mountain lions and bears inhabit this and surrounding areas. You may wish to avoid during hunting season.

Congratulations to LostInDenver on the FTF for this cache!

I gave this one a good look over, even standing in the previous finders tracks and found no container?

Anyway, this is DNF #195 on my ever growing list.

Maybe some warm summer day I try again.

Yes we found it, on Christmas Day, and this is our 500th find!! Shorty and I decided to keep our Christmas tradition of hiding and finding a few caches. We had been working up to number 500 and really wanted this cache to be the one, especially since the MLCCrashers placed it here on Christmas Day a few years ago. Not many logs and lots of snow we set out , when we approached the first GZ at the rock pile we set down our bag and scoured the place. After about 15 minutes we were starting to lose hope, and a snow squall had moved in which made the search even tougher. Determined I pulled up the logs again and re-read lost in Denver’s which put me on the right path at a separate GZ. Then we spotted it!! A little tough to get out, but we finally put pen to paper to mark the occasion! Thank you MLCCrashers for bringing us back up here, we decided to hide a few of our own to entice others to join in the hunt! Erns a favorite from usm Merry Christmas, TFTC!

9:32:00 AM Out with my new dog Prince Hairy and my husband Garlic. It was fun postholing through the snow. Thanks! This one took a while, finally spotted it. GPS bounce is pretty bad up here.

Where to start on this one? I guess, at the trail head. It was nicer up here than I expected. I thought there would be 2 feet of snow on the ground. Along the route there were a few places where it had piled up to 4-5 inches, but most of it was bare pine needles. My phone GPS guided me toward the GZ and I saw a large outcrop of rocks. The hint was already burnt in my mind. So you could say that I came in with a preconceived notion of where to look. I found the CO's footprints and their dog's prints and thought it would help. Nope. I found one of the distractions, which aren't really necessary in the mountains. GPS signals bounce so much, that good coords are hard to come by. After 40 minutes of searching, I was still empty handed, cold, and getting a little paranoid about the animal sounds around me.
"I came up to look for a micro in the woods by a newer cacher," I thought to myself. I should have known better. My coords zeroed out at 3 different places and I had searched about 50' in all directions. Frustration was taking over and I sat down to re-think my approach. With a different idea in mind I returned to the first place my GPS said was ground zero. I noticed something strange, but it wasn't the cache. It gave me a new idea. Within seconds I had the cache in hand. It was about 3' from the original GZ. Great coords and great placement! My incompetence and preconceived ideas got in the way of a quicker find.
I grabbed the TB and signed the log [FTF] at 2:17 pm. I'm taking the TB for an adventure. Cute little kitty. TFTC!
