This trail is perfect for trying out your new mountain bike, walking shoes, hiking boots or running shoes that Santa gave you for Christmas! The cache is perfect for trying out the new GPS/Phone you got for Christmas, too!

Easy mountain bike/hiking trail in Douglas County just off Monarch Boulevard. The trail system is open three out of four seasons; March 1st to January 1st. They close the "Backcountry" open space and trail system so the Elk can roam without harassment. You'll need to be quick to find it this year!

There is absolutely no need to cross any fences. Stay on the public trail until you are within a few feet.

Warnings: Please be mindful of the wildlife, especially the rattlesnakes. There are warning signs, but only at the trail heads. There have been a few reports of coyotes in the area. Please be aware and remember never to approach the wildlife! Feel free to post your sightings in your log for others to see. Also be careful of the cactus in the area; there's plenty of it around. Mountain bikers also frequent the trail system.

Parking can be found here:

Congratulations to animjason and breddawg for the very quick FTF!

This was the last find for me on the trail this morning and it almost ended in a DNF! I knew what I was looking for but just couldn't spot it! It didn't take forever (less than 10 minutes) but longer than it should've. It's all about perspective though and it took a while for me to have the right one. The hint doesn't exactly apply anymore. Well, half of it does but the other half doesn't. I'll let you figure out which is which. But all is nice and dry here and I'm glad to get another found on this great trail.

Thanks for the hide Flic

Looks like lots of folks come this way to catch some rays! The northern side of the trail is closed for wildlife needs, so I headed south and parked in the lot off Monarch. I think this was a good day - the cold kept both the snakes and the muggles away. :) I circled the tree twice, then reversed direction and there it was. Everything was in good shape here. Thanks for the smiley! Find #3516.

Have a quiet weekend so I decided to grab a few for the 360 degrees of Colorado challenge. Hopped in the car kinda early and headed south. When I started out it was 64 degrees and sunny, the rain rolled in and it dropped down to 48 in a hurry. I enjoyed my hikes today, lots of flowers, rocks, cactus and birds to look at. I'll probably hit a few more tomorrow, it will be awesome to get to below 100 red rays!

It definitely blends in and it is not purple! Had cache in hand though after circling the tree for a few minutes. Thanks a lot for this cache.

I parked at Daniels Gate Park and hiked one section of the trail and then doubled back to the car. I was not sure I would have enough time to grab all the caches on my list, but I did. So I continued on and hiked the other side of the trail. The trail is in great condition and there were less than 5 areas of mud/snow and it was close to 75 degrees in the afternoon. For the first time in about 6 months, I actually broke a sweat while hiking. I found all of the caches that I went after (16/16). I was planning to grab 4 more that were part of a series, but that section of the trail is closed until April. I had a great day, and I love caching in the winter/early spring because there is less bushwhacking involved and the caches are not as well hidden. Also less muggles. Total mileage for the day was about 7.5 miles in about 4 hours. Thanks to everyone for the caches here on the trail.

Santa didn't bring me a bike, but I just bought this bike on spring break to do a trail in Nebraska. With only coast brakes and no gears it was a tough ride. Enjoyed the down hill parts though! Tftc!
