Highlands Point overlooks Highlands Ranch and the surrounding area. At an elevation of 6,310 ft., this lookout offers a view of the Front Range from Colorado Springs to Boulder. In addition, there are tubular sights that direct your view to three of Colorado’s 14ers.

This cache is located in a beautiful open space in Highlands Ranch. Stick to the Douglas County East/West Trail (and its inlets) to stay on public property. The other trails are open to Highlands Ranch Community Association members and their accompanied guests only. If you use either of my parking coordinates, you will be fine. Once you arrive you will see a large compass on the ground, and some very cool arrows that point out some of Colorado's other treasures. There are also three viewing pipes that point out Pikes Peak, Mount Evans, and Longs Peak.

From here, you are:
1.7 miles from Wildcat Mountain
3.4 miles from Cherokee Ranch and Castle
6.5 miles from Chatfield Reservoir
8.3 miles from Roxborough State Park
11.5 miles from Cherry Creek Reservoir
19 miles from Devils HEad Peak
19.25 miles from Red Rocks
22 miles from Colorado State Capitol

There is also a Waymark at this location! Go HERE to log it.

For Father's Day my family indulged me and we all went geocaching together! I sometimes go with my daughter, but rarely do all four of us go. When we parked, we were all a little concerned the weather wouldn't hold up. We heard some thunder in the distance but it seemed like it might just hold up.

This was the primary target. I've wanted to get out here for a while. I had always hoped the family would join me but for a time wasn't sure it would happen. But today was the day! Decent amount of traffic on the trail which got our geodog Jack all excited.

I made my way to GZ with him and quickly found the cache. Love the container size! And that is a LOT of army men! :) I'm really glad it was replaced so quickly. I needed this for my Jasmer (which is still probably years away) and the view did not disappoint either.

I left a little additional SWAG for the next finder. Two stickers including a rare Cachly sticker.

We enjoyed the view for a minute, got a family photo taken, and then headed down as the thunder was a little too close for comfort.

This gets a favorite for bringing the whole family up here to this awesome spot in Highlands Ranch that I never would've known existed if it wasn't for this old cache.

Thanks for the hide animjason

Found with animjason, and Bhob while animjason replaced his geocache. This was a great view, and we found a Highlands Ranch scavenger hunt looking pole we are going to look more into. Thanks for keeping this one going.

Colorado Road Trip!

Headed out for a long weekend road trip with a small number of hand picked caches. I headed south to Topeka and then to Colorado Springs, next to Cheyenne and Rapid City before heading home. I camped most of the way when I could find campgrounds. The scenery was incredible and the hikes in the mountains worth the trip. All these caches made the trip worth every minute!

Thanks animjason for the cache!

Out for a hike with a bajillion people. Took my boy to find it. One side of the lock and lock is off, so it might start leaking any time.

Out with animjason (CO) today. While he collected Pokemon on the trail, I made the find. Beautiful views here. Really quite sad that there isn't an option for virtuales anymore. This would be a perfect spot for one. Thanks for a nice cache and gorgeous scenery.

We had a blast hiking up for this. Found quickly...I didn't follow the GPS too much instead relying on geosense. Great hide. Picked up 2 trackables and left some swag. SL. The view from up here is fantastic. The kids loved the ride back down to red tail park ... I pulled them down in the wagon at super sonic speed.
