A challenge to find after the light rain made the rocks very slippery. With the Scouts from Troop 79 on the Air Force Academy in our own backyard. A great hike with incredible views. The cache is in good shape. Thanks for the hide.

Got it on second pass. First looked had me on top...great views but a little scary. After an hour or so we gave up and went to the crash site. Returned and gave it another try. SL - thanks

Somebody said, "I believe we only live one life and I am trying to make the best of it"... questionable decision today. The elements made for a challenging hike, but then we've had it easy lately. Ernie66 has been pressing to do this one for some time now and I just needed to get it over with. I probably chose the wrong day, but that's now all in the past. FTF always makes things better and seeing the cat prints makes the hike more exciting. Spikes were essential on the last .22 miles and 400 feet of elevation gain. Thank goodness Ernie had a spoiler photo due to the signal bounce in this area. And thanks to BackCountryHorsemen for her dnf as it alerted us to possible issues. PayMeCache, this is an awesome spot for a cache. Even in my frozen state I was able to appreciate the views. Thanks for waking us up out of hibernation. Worthy cache.

Estes01 and I have been eyeing this cache for weeks but something is always getting in the way. I didn’t think this weekend was going to work either, but then plans changed and the day was open! Never mind the strong wind, snow on the ground, and below-freezing temperatures.

I read the previous DNF log and asked the CO in advance for the spoiler photo mentioned in the log. Having that made the find relatively easy - once we got there - which was fortunate given the high wind blowing across the ridge top.

A few spots on Trail 713 weren’t quite as I remembered from previous trips years ago, but we got through them. The water tank that used to be at the turnoff from 713 to the Blodgett summit trail is now a concrete basin!

Signed log in the FTF spot and added a favorite point (just not enough hiking caches going in any more). TFTC!

I debated about posting this DNF but then I wondered what would happen if someone came up after us & then found out we searched & couldn't find it. I hiked up 713 with J of KJKlock. We stopped here hoping I could get a very rare FTF for me (I've been caching for over 14 years & probably only have 6-8 FTFs). We searched for almost an hour on the way up, contacted the CO for some info, got a spoiler pic, searched for another over hour on the way down, nada. We had to get going as dark is still coming pretty early. It was after 4 when we started down.
Good luck to the next person who tries for this one.
