Dogs  Takes more than an hour  Scenic view  Available during winter  Cliff / falling rocks  Medium hike (1km-10km)

Ruxton Creek flows through Englemann Canyon before reaching Manitou Springs. The Pikes Peak cog railway runs along Ruxton Creek for a few miles. The Barr Trail zigzags up the north side of the canyon and a few less well-known trails provide access to the south side.

To get to this cache, take the Turntable Trail. The trailhead can be hard to find. You can park in the Barr Trail parking lot, but instead of going up Barr Trail, head back down to Ruxton Road and take it west to the end. Or park in one of the private paid spots for Incline users, or take the free shuttle bus to the Incline stop. At the end of Ruxton Road, go around a gate, over a metal bridge, and proceed up to the start of the trail (see waypoints).

Expect a hike of about 4 miles round trip with about 1800 feet of elevation gain. The trail is steep in some places and there are a few downed trees to climb over or go around.

Dang, how old is Mr. Hartsdale!!?
I wasn't even born in 1960 BigSmile BigSmile
Anyway... this was the end of a long darn day from the incline, to top of Cameron via the aqueduct route noted on several area cache pages, & back down this way to clean up a last couple on this ridge. I appreciate the trail waypoints, but I blew the last of my energy "skree-skiing" about eight or nine hundred feet straight down from here to one of the lowest waypoints above the cog rr crossing.
Thank Heaven for a wife who'll come get you there in the car after a day like that Smile

I waited till it warmed up alittle bit and had my Wife drop me at the last turnaround to start up.

Got to the trailhead at about quarter thill ten and had the trail to myself up and down.

Great views from the rock outcropping.

I signed the top spot and continued up to a few others.

Thanks for a cache with some great views and some great exercise to go with it!

On the way back down at spot where someone would take a break on a flat rock I found an almost new cellphone laying behind it.
