Colorado Spirit Quest Cache #18

Estes Park Memorial Gardens

Revived with permission of Greasepot

-----

The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals near cemeteries and historic sites, in hopes to pay respect to the many pioneer ancestors that walked before us.

---

***If you are aprehensive about cemeteries - AVOID this series! Please be respectful - If there are memorial services underway, please return to search for this cache at a different time. ***

---

The Town of Estes Park was founded in 1859 and incorporated in 1917. A public cemetery didn't exist until 1985. According to museum docents, people were buried in neighboring towns or on family ranches prior to that time. Numerous memorial plaques have been placed throughout this cemetery, in honor of those who spent significant time in the Estes Park area, but are buried elsewhere.

----

Note: This cache is placed near the resting place of a prominent RMNP Park Ranger who was known for his climbing abilities, his numerous rescues and his vast knowledge of Longs Peak. Drawn to Longs Peak a a young man, he completed over 400 ascents of Longs Peak before dying in a climbing accident himself. Say Hi to Jim while you're there.
