This cache is placed on Thanksgiving Day, 2013, to celebrate my first 300 finds.  The location is in a beautiful, shady "churchyard" which also serves as an Arboretum of various trees that are appropriate for this elevation and location in Cedaredge, Colorado.

The Chapel of the Cross is located at the back (western) part of Pioneer Town in Cedaredge. This little chapel was built and donated to the community a local couple 24 years ago. Today it is used as a venue for various music performances in the summertime and at holidays through the rest of the year. It is also used for weddings.

All around many different species of trees have been planted, both conifer and deciduous, and each species is marked so that people might choose similar trees for their own plantings. The solitude of the park-like area provides sanctuary to many birds, and deer are often seen grazing on the green grass around the chapel. Take time to walk around and enjoy this beautiful arboretum that is easily accessed from SW 3rd Ave and SW 4th Street.

The coordinates shown are not the exact location of the cache. To calculate the cache coordinates find the published coordinates for these other Cedaredge geocaches to complete the true coordinates as follows: N 38 5a.bcd W 107 5w.xyz

GC4FW6N --N 38° 53.wwc W 107° 55.x94

GC4FW71 --N 38° 53.b4x W 107° 55.wdz

Thanks Kekj for doing maintenance on this cache. I’m glad to know it’s still in place!

SNAKES ALIVE! Cache was swarming with the rubbery creatures - Scorpions too! As promised, back in town for another musical at "The Chapel", arrived early to check out this cache. From memory walked to where we had last found it several years ago. Took about 5 minutes of poking fingers into holes and digging through underbrush (where bitey things like to hide!) before locating the cache, still in good condition (see photo) Several broken fingernails latter had enlarged hidey hole, removed underbrush and built a stone cairn around cache, ready for next find.

P.s. We too well remember the first time we found this cache, calculated GZ was out in the middle of the yard! Geosense kicked in and looked for most logical nearby hide and found after some searching. Did not have high end gps with us today so used phone and will get those coords to the CO for an update. We did not recalculate the Multi coords to find GZ but as I recall you need to go about 20' N of GZ.

OH MY! Missing? After completing a project in GJT (and a DNF) met up with the Ms. and carpooled up here to the CHAPEL for some good music. Now home and said to self, should visit the passel of Tbugs we are holding to the cache here, look it up and not found by a team we know to have good geoinstincts. Planning to be back up here next Sunday for another musical and will check on it then. Now on to the rodeo grounds to check on our letterbox hybrid there.

Bummed again! We thought the location was very nice and thought we had it solved but the coords put us in the middle of the grass behind the church. Looked in the bushes for abvious large cache but no luck. Could the coords be off again as seems typical for this CO? Might try again someday. Hint?

Now this is more my style. Plenty of time for solitude and searching. The only ones giving me strange looks were the deer. Just as I'm thinking "Surely it wouldn't be there", it was. Nice hide.
