Dogs  Scenic view  Significant hike  Parking available  Bicycles  No Motorcycles  No Off-road vehicles  Horses  Long Hike (+10km)

Small container just off old Forest Road 539.
This is where we stopped for lunch on the way to Raleigh Peak, so it seemed like a nice place for a cache.

From the trailhead at the South Platte river, it is about an 8 mile round trip with about a 1500 foot elevation gain. There are several other caches in the area and great views. This old road parallels the Colorado Trail, so there are other return trip options.

So excited to be out this far on a day hike with Evgnhiker. We thought we might be climbing Raleigh Peak today, but after finding this cache we meandered for a bit and decided it was not wise since we hadn't really studied an approach. There are some huge chunks of rock here! Thanks for the cache!

Teamed up with "animjason" and another good friend, for a nice hike on segment two of the Colorado trail - this was the nineth of eleven geocaches that we found along the way. TN-LN-SL. Thanks !

Left the house at 6:00 this morning, to meet Garlic at the Colorado Trail and road crossing at 126. I then hiked back towards Waterton Canyon. Quite hot out today, and lots of through hikers and through bikers out there! It was quite hot out there, I ran out of water about a mile from my car. Then when I got to the car it poured down rain, and the temperature plummeted. Glad I turned around when I did - it was perfect timing. Thanks! Love the scenery on this segment. Now it's time for a bath and a nap! I thought it was going to be only about 10 miles today, but it ended up being more than 15. Bushwacked over from the Colorado Trail for this one.

Goat wanted to hike segment 2...I was more than happy to tag along behind and visit some geocaches 'nearby'. Thanks for the fun hide - took quite a detour from the trail but it was worth it for one smiley and lots of pretty rock sitings :)!
