Ring The Peak Cache Series

This is 1 of 15 caches placed along the Ring The Peak trail system. Each cache in the series has a permanent clue located underneath the lid. The clue consists of one letter and number (think "scrabble piece") that leads to the final cache: Ring The Peak .

Please bring a pen and paper to write down the clue, and be sure to note if the letter is underlined or not.

An excellent source for trail information can be found here. To reach this cache, take a side trail that goes a quarter of a mile east along the ridge line. From here, you can see our "Alabaster City Gleam". Paragliders launch close to this location (see attached picture for one I saw when placing the cache).

This was a rough find. Battled through the oakbrush and mountain mahogany to get to this one from the other caches, and the way down wasn’t exactly easy either. TFTC

There is a great view from this cache. The trails were a bit tricky because they were covered in ice, this is probably best attempted in the summer. Thanks for the cache.

For several weeks icezebra11 and I have talked about getting out together for a day of cache-finding. Today it happened; we drove down from northern Colorado and had a great time hunting down caches in the hills above Manitou Springs! We started the day on the Red Mountain trail and ended with a long hike on the Section 16 trail system. We found some great caches, took in a brief afternoon rain spatter and hail flurry, and had a fun, memorable day together. Each of the caches was hidden in a marvelous location, and some required a bit of dedicated work to reach them. All-in-all, a super day of geocaching. Thanks to each of the cache owners for hiding and maintaining the caches we found!

We had a great hike and bushwhack to this cache site, found the container and signed the log paper. I believe this is the first Ring The Peak cache I've found, and I recorded the code. Because I live so far north, in Wellington, it's doubtful that I will ever complete the series. But from what I've read, it's a great one! Thanks for this contribution, titocache!

A couple weeks ago Denali41 and I made plans to travel south today to the Pike's Peak/Colorado Springs area to go after a bunch of caches, starting at the top of the peak and working our way back down the mountain toward CS. Last night I texted my son who lives in the Springs that we'd be there today and asked if he wanted to hike with us in the Devil's Playground area. He said "good luck" because the Hill Climb was happening today. So we had to alter our plan to eliminate all the caches above the toll booth. We still had a full day of caching, as we fully expected we wouldn't be able to get to all the caches on the target list, even without the caches on PP.

After making a nice hike to Redstone Castle we headed for Sec. 16 Open Space. We had quite a few caches targeted both high and low and we decided to go high first, hoping to get as far as Third Stone from the Sun. We detoured off the main trail and walked the ridge out to this one. It was a first RTP cache for both of us but since we live so far away the odds of us getting them all is unfortunately pretty low. Thanks titocache!!!

Went exploring a bit in the early am and found myself on the summit watching the sun come up. Checked the gps and saw I was within 80' of a cache. Made a quick find and put my name to the log. Thanks for hiding the cache here! :D

This is the third one I have found in this series, but I am not working at it, just enjoying them (did get the clue though). This was on the way today in the area, so I went for it and was not disappointed. Absolutely beautiful area and hike up the hills and over from St. Pattys Overlook. First time in this area to cache and will be back! The cache is secure for the winter months.
