Day 2 of an epic 6 day journey out to the western frontier. I had some vacation time that I needed to burn up by the end of the year, and what better way to use it than to go Geocaching! My main goal was to find caches in New Mexico and Nevada, which would complete my map in the western US. The rest of the 4 remaining states are on the East Coast. Secondary goals were to find oldies, mostly virtuals, and high favorited caches. The only bad part of the trip was that it rained every single day of my vacation.

I headed south out of MN on Sunday and returned home on Friday.
Sunday - Drive all the way through to Colorado (15 hours!)
Monday - Cache in and around Denver and Colorado Springs, with an attempt at Pike's Peak (closed at Mile 14)
Tuesday - Head south towards GC19 and then west through Wolf Creek Pass
Wednesday - Four Corners monument and west towards Nevada
Thursday - After a night in Richfield, UT, head east through the skiing areas of Colorado towards Nebraska
Friday - The long drive home

Thanks to all the cache owners for placing these caches for me to find and for keeping the oldies going all these years.

Wonderful winter like day here, out with DarkFairy*2 and Mae55. Enjoyed some spring waters, great! This is one little hard working locomotive in its day. The Cog Train to the Peak is such a fun expereance. TFTEC.

Walked around downtown Manitou with my sweetheart on our vacation. There was an art festival downtown today. Sad to hear this railway no longer runs... would have liked to ride this up to Pike's peak. Interesting to learn about the railway system at this location. Thanks for the information.

After spending the morning in the Garden of the Gods, we stopped in Manitou Springs to do a little wandering and grabbing some lunch. I of course wanted to find a few caches. We managed to get this one and three springs earthcaches before the rain arrived and chased us away. Unfortunately, the cog railway has been closed for the season, so we won't get to have the experience. Thanks for highlighting this location

08.19.18...Finally had time to get my boys notes deciphered; answers sent. TFTC.

Writing a note while I'm getting my answers organized.

Headed back to Nebraska after picking my #2 son up from BYU-I...having my youngest along for the ride was an unexpected but fun bonus. We stopped in Colorado Springs for the day and made the trek up to the top of Pikes Peak and spent the evening at the Garden of the Gods. Headed into Manitou Springs for dinner...found the arcade and had a lot of fun playing Skeeball!

Well I’m not 100% on my answers as the format for the last couple of blanks don’t seem to match what I found, but I feel confident enough that I’m posting a found log. Fun little bit of history! TFTC!!!
