Congrats Team Kaiketsu on FTF! Also thank you for the test-run and the feedback!
You arrive at the given coordinates at the park like any other day, and park in your favorite spot. However, when you get out of the car, you notice two strange objects off in the distance. You start along the path and pass the familiar swingsets and playground and there they are, you see two very strange hardened pieces of food! You have never seen food this large, or this hard, so who could possibly consume something like this? You decide to get out and investigate, after all, curiosity killed the cat, not the moose, so you are feeling lucky today.
From the southern piece of food you see something off in the distance that looks like it may help. You look at your compass and see that the object is at a bearing of approximately 33 degrees, which you follow until you've gone neary 310 feet! You see something of curious nature and decide to investigate the FCT.
You remember a game you played as a kid, and as you are walking you realized that you have broken your mother's back 31 times because you haven't paid attention to where you were walking! You stop to desperately hope its just a silly kids game and that your mom will be alright, and you notice another curious object nearby. All of a sudden the object in front of you turns into the likeness of a man, who says his name is O'Rielly. He tells you to follow the way his mountains point and then abruptly turns back into the object in front of you. Was this just magic, or are you not quite awake yet? Maybe you should go back and drink some coffee... but something inside your gut tugs you along the path in the direction his mountains point.
After you go through the pass you cross some paths that other creatures are using, you continue on and find something made of trees that are no longer trees. You notice that the trees that are no longer trees start curving to the right and follow them. All of a sudden, it ends, and before you is something that looks like an ancient game. What could these pegs mean? You see the game before you and notice the words "heel calks" written on a peg, but before you can investigate it closer the words vanish!
While standing on one near the southeast side, you hear a mighty RAWWWRRRRRRRR!!!! Startled, you look up, and directly to your south is a large black creature with 4 legs and scales upon its back. It doesn't seem to be more than a few hundred feet away, so you pick up one of the objects at your feet and rush the scaled black dragon and throw the object at him. Almost like magic, he turns into something more calming, something you've noticed that people covet for shade when the sun is burning bright in the sky. You also see something tatooed to one of his legs. It has some initials and a set of numbers...
After deciphering the ancient text, you know that the monster's initials were CRS, and that any creature brave enough to defeat the monster should go forth and discover the next part of their journey. You notice the 2nd digit of the number is shining in golden letters, and the rest are a dull grey. Maybe that number means something? Just as you are pondering this new curious development, you hear a soft hum nearby and a large black pole appears just to your west, emitting a soft beam of light. You look to your East and see more of these objects. Maybe you should go to the object specified by the golden number? The one near you must be the first one because it just appeared as you were thinking about it...
After you reach the specified beacon, you hear something curious behind you... it sounds like thunder! You do a 180, turn around and face... the Sentinel! The Sentinel seems to be guarding something, so being curious you peer around the stationary Sentinel and see what is making such a ruckus. Turns out its two very similar looking objects! These objects are making loud crashing sounds, and it feels like you're inches away from a huge crash of thunder! As you go to cover your ears, the two creatures turn towards you. By gosh... they're alive! Before you can turn and run away, you see their lips moving and a noise comes out... only this time it doesn't sound like crashing thunder, its calm and peaceful.
The creatures tell you they have given you the gift of speaking their language. Not many can commune with them, as most of the two-legged types have forgotten how to commune with all that surrounds them every day. What magnificent, intelligent creatures! You will never look at this type of object the same again! The two nearly identical creatures tell you they are the parents of three quarrelling children, who have stolen a treasure and are fighting over it. They are back down the cement path going west and slightly north, butting heads and arguing. The parents ask you to go find their children and tell them to return home and stop fighting!
As you go down the path again, you come to a junction and see three large curious creatures before you. One is obviously bigger than the other 2, so it must be the eldest sibling. With your new-found knowledge to speak with such creatures, you tell them how worried their parents are, and nothing is worth quarreling over. They are family, and family is the most important thing! The three children look at eachother, have a big group hug, and then tuck into a ball and roll off to their parents. With a smile on your face you look down, and notice one of the smaller children must have been sitting on the treasure all along! You are surprised it isn't crushed, take out the stamp and stamp your notebook, sign the log, take a piece of treasure and leave one for the next curious person, and leave with a giant smile on your face. This was the best adventure you've ever had in this park, and it makes you think about what other amazing creatures might be out there waiting to be found!
I hope you enjoy this curious adventure!! You will need to solve the riddles and use the clues to find the treasure. Do not worry if you do not have a device capable of doing bearing calculations, use a simple compass or the compass on your phone and just walk approximately 310 feet until you see the next clue in the story. Good Luck and I hope you and your families enjoy this adventure as much as I enjoyed creating it! Don't forget to bring your notebooks to add a stamp to. Container is big enough for small swag and small trackables for those who enjoy treasure!
Difficulty and Terrain ratings are based on the time it will take to decipher the clues, the amount of walking around, and the final hide. The majority of this cache will be on paths or close enough you can use a path to get to each place, so it is very family friendly.
NOTE: You will not necessarily need a GPSr or other device to do the calculations near the beginning, bring a standard compass or use the one on your phone, take a bearing of 33 degrees and follow it until you see something curious. ALSO: DO NOT TAKE THE STAMP! The stamp belongs in the cache to keep it a LBH cache so it is not there as a piece of SWAG! Thank you for listening and enjoy this adventure.
