Entrance sign

This geocache is placed in honor of all who have served our great nation.  It is NOT on that hallowed ground; it is across the street from the entrance, a few hundred feet to the east, but still north of cemetery property. It is in a very easy spot where muggles should not be a concern.

BE CAREFUL -- THERE IS A BIT OF BARBED WIRE NEAR THE CONTAINER. And, you can park within about 10 feet of the cache.

! The Exciting Cache Series!

“COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST”

REMEMBER:

If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.

The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

If you are interested in being a part of this project, contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of “Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – Mountain Passage”.  Use the ‘Send Message” link at the center of the page of their profile.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado.  This series will introduce you to many of them.

The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task and will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers  willing to place these caches.

After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.

Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its maintenance.

Thanks to the volunteers: Greasepot, Taylorgeotracker, Ivy Dog Parents, Team Boogity3, Grand High Pobah, Boborr 80909, Imusttravel2000, Buzz Lightyear I, Sandhill 49er, MrVolkswagen, Isisfan, Rockymtn8iv, Fork-L-Man, Outdrlvr201, Condor1, 2Cachedivers, arthurat, smilz787, Kyotmoon, Mountain Roamer, SugarPug, Team Tiger Pride, ernie66, drnetwork, Team w-bar-v, Dynamite Rabbit, DustyKat, mtnbirders, RustyBeerCan & Marma, grymreaper, nteclpr, Moose1 & Mama Moose, Joe Friday, 3cacheteers, 3cacheteers, Dasha Aussies, KB0UMW, hiking_fool, tripping, res71cue and 1Mrs1Ogre, and nickgatt, kingbee, The misgnoners, rbradu, shashyaz&foxy, Bugranger, Lyonden ut., Any Direction, Sewnssew, The Meandering Monkeys, Charlie-n-Geri, skibum1, gooftroop 4, stubywwjd, MaDDoGGaming, kingbee, Wolverine, Random Acts, lbmiller, BTBugs, God chaser, imcasey, lesslost2, Back Country Horseman, vorticity, Triggur, Eagle 2, imyy4u2, MikeAndJuli, and 9-rushman&famgirl79, TheBrecks, animjason, RhyoliteRangers and now us -- 3 Williams Kidz.

From the Veterans Administration webpage:

Pikes Peak National Cemetery is a new 374-acre Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) national cemetery in the southeast portion of Colorado Springs. The cemetery will serve the burial needs of more than 95,000 Veterans, their spouses and eligible family members in perpetuity. This will be the third national cemetery opened in Colorado. The other two national cemeteries are Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver and Fort Lyon.

Congratulations on the co-FTF to SquirtsExplorers and ZRMA0718!

Cache #105 found. Tomorrow I am going with MeanLady1 to a park so she can find and log ones that she was with me before she started an account so I decided to hit these today after work as they were great park and grab types. TFTC!

What a great cache and a very nice location for it. I hope it lasts for a long time. Dropped a trackable. Thanks for hiding this cache which surely deserves a Favorite

Doing a little Christmas shopping, a little caching. I have been wanting to find this one ever since it published. Nobody around on this Sunday so I drove through the cemetery. Looks like it will be great resting spot for our veterans once more of the work is completed. Thanks for the geo-fun.

Found after attending a meeting downtown this afternoon. What an excellent place for a new cache in our area! I'd waited a few days to search for this, given the CO's mention of trying to get CSQ status for the cache. I'm not far from the number of CSQ cache finds needed to meet criteria of a local challenge cache, so this was worth waiting for a bit. Smile TNLNSL. TFTC and for drawing attention to the nearby cemetery.
