It's Only Rock 'n Roll

dkcraig got the FTF

Located along the Marsh-Felch Quarry Trail in the Garden Park Fossil Area. Park at the waypoint and take a nice hike up the trail. The trail is moderately steep with some loose rocks. The trail is not always well defined, and you may find yourself off the trail if you're not paying attention. The container is big enough for swag and trackables. The cache is close to the trail so there is no need for bushwhacking. I didn't have my GPSr with me when I placed this so I used my phone for coordinates. Feel free to post your own coordinates if you think they are better.

Please be sure and tuck the container back and hide it well.

Get a "twofer" while you are in the area. Be sure and log the Garden Park Fossil Area earthcache.

It was a good day to hike up and check on this cache. The weather was cool with a nice breeze blowing. The cache is in perfect condition and the Lonely Traveler travel bug is staying lonely. Cache on!

Out for a walk about grabbing some caches on this beautiful Sunday afternoon. I've been to Oil Well Flats before, but not to this part of the grounds. SL, TFTC!

It seemed like a good day to hike this trail again. It was a little cooler today than it has been. Cache is good. I left a travel bug. Cache on!

We sure enjoyed our second hike on the Marsh Felch Quarry Trail. Another nice hide. Picked up the TB that was resting here way too long. Tftc.

I set out on the quarry trail this afternoon in search of this cache and another one a little further up the hillside. Stopped by this one first but just couldn't spot the cache after a good 15-20min search. I was burning daylight so decided to head up the trail and give this one another go on the way back down. When I returned, I followed the gps to GZ then practically walked right up to the only spot I didn't search prior. Very nice hiding place! Plus the cache is located in a such perfect area. I gotta say this pretty much is the quintessential geocache! These are the types of caches that drive my geocaching experience.

I was about to be embarrassed if I wasn't able to locate this one. That is, after considering, the cache owner had just verified the cache was there and ready to be found a little over a month ago. Glad to post a smiley here today though. After the find, I took some time to sit and try to mentally visualize what things were like at this very spot in the late 19th century when Mr. Felch and company were hard at work with excavations. I sat down and read the Marsh-Felch correspondence letters one night. Wow, talk about having a window into the past! I highly recommend that read if you have the time.

A big thank you to Room 1009 for placing and maintaining this cache! I grabbed your Denver 2016 Geowoodstock coin so I'll be sending her into wild blue yonder soon.
