You will need a 4-wheel drive high clearance vehicle to reach Sugar Loaf Mountain. You know you're close when you see the sandy wash beneath it.    
No trail here. About a 1/2 mile hike. Once on top, you can't miss the cairn that our family had fun building over 7 years ago. Cairn is not safe to climb and cache is NOT on top of it.  You will bust your . . . .elbow.  Enjoy the great views of the valley floor, the wild horses, and the Rio Grande River. Watch out for cactus and rattlesnakes. BRING YOUR OWN PEN
