Located on top of a high mountain (anything higher than a freeway overpass to us Texans). Elevation change of 1100' from blacktop road to cache site. All drivable.
Directions to cache: I-70 to Rifle. North on 13, 20mi to Rio Blanco. West on 5, 10.5mi to county road 3. Up the mountain and down the trail. Not a very difficult find, but the view is outstanding. I have no idea what it is like in the winter, but it is an excellent picnic spot any other time. You can drive almost up to the cache. Don't go too far, though, it's a lloonngg way down.

Look for a green 4" diameter PVC pipe snuggly cradeled in the arms of an evergreen. Contents include a Texas flag, a Colorado pen, a Chums glasses head strap and some other odds and ends.

Delorme pg 33 has eluded us for a while. Not many to choose from on this page. We finally got it though!
This one was soaking wet inside. The poor log book is pretty much ruined. We didn’t have time to dry it today, but hopefully someone will in the future! If you place the cache upside down, it should help moisture not to leak through the threads :-)
Beautiful view — thanks for bringing us up here!

Wahoo! We found it! A lonely cache 2 times over already. We made the climb in the geo-mobile on a beautiful afternoon. The road was pretty rocky in a few spots. I had to take it easy to avoid overheating on the climb up. Made the final .5 miles on foot to a great locatoin. Wow what a view! This was one of our must do caches this week while visiting from MN and it did not disappoint! Thanks for the adventure! We enjoyed every minute of it! Thanks for keeping this one alive! A great Jasmer grid filler!

In our quest to get some of the older caches this one just had to fit into our trip. It is so nice to go on the road less traveled. Thanks for getting us off the main road. Cache is fine and survived another winter quite well.

Loved the cache...reminds me of Texas! Thanks for the fun. Took the little toothbrush and left a fashion love pin. SL

Cache was in very good shape! Lots of goodies inside. Found the screw out end of the cache too hard by hand so will need a wrench to loosen. However, don't despair, the other end has a screw clamp and opens easily with a coin or screwdriver. Still one of the most scenic sites I've been to.
