From the time when kids had to walk uphill both way to school. There was dozens of country schools across the county ensuring that no kid had to walk more than 3 miles
The Yuma County School project set out to locate and mark as many of these schools as possible Anyone wanting more information can stop into the Wray Museum
The original Model School was a brick school house located 3/4 of a mile south east of this location. It was nameed Model because it was supposed to be a Model of how all schools should look. Did the owner of the Wray brick factory being on the school board have any influene on this?
The school only lasted a few years and a wooden school was build just a few 100 feet north of here. Take a walk and see what you find
