From the time when kids had to walk uphill both way to school. There was dozens of country schools across the county ensuring that no kid had to walk more than 3 miles
The Yuma County School project set out to locate and mark as many of these schools as possible Anyone wanting more information can stop into the Wray Museum
This was a very interesting district with the school moving several times within just a few miles of this location. In the begining it was called the Hampton School and at one time it was in a dug out untill it was condemed by the heath inspector. There was even a few fist fights in town over where the school would be located. At some point there was a West school and an East school Eventualy the district was split with the West school becoming Fairview 70 and the East School becoming Pleasant Valley. The Original Scool hose is still standing in the south part of town and is used as a garage
