To get to this cache. First get to Camp Dick. Camp Dick is one mile west of the Peaceful Valley Campground, accessed off of Highway 72at mile-marker 50. This is approximately 4 miles south of the intersection of Hwys. 7 and 72. Turn west onto Forest Road 114 at Peaceful Valley and drive SLOWLY through the Peaceful Valley and Camp Dick Campgrounds. The section of the road to Camp Dick is paved, but has large speed bumps. Limited parking is available in the lot at the west end of Camp Dick.

In a 4WD vehicle with high clearance, you can drive 3.6 miles further on Forest Road 114 (a.k.a. Middle St. Vrain Rd.). This is a rough 4WD-only road, which is closed from late October through late June or early July. Also the fastest way to the Cache. Park at the end of the road (pass the Coney Flatts trail head).

You can also do this by snowshoe along the Midle St Vrain Creek Trail that is accessible at Camp Dick. If you go by way of the Buchanan Trail 910 There are no ATV's allowed. But ATV's are allowed on the 4x4 trail.

Had to make it to this Buchanan cache while hiking the Buchanan Pass trail. Found a nice place to eat out lunch nearby before heading back...all is well here. Thanks SL

I hiked with my hiking group to Red Deer Lake today, and managed to grab this one along the way. They don't wait for me if I hesitate, so I passed by some of the other nearby caches (sigh). They stopped to look at the river right here, though, so I walked around GZ to see whether this would be a quick find and it was about as quick as possible, sitting right out there. I still had to run to catch up after signing the log, but hey, I got the cache. It's in good shape but yeah, trees grow. TFTC!
