Visiting a branch of the public library should always be a magical and educational experience that broadens your horizons, feeds your curiosity, stretches your imagination, and leaves you with a smile on your face!
With that in mind, what could possibly be more rewarding for Geocachers than to have the opportunity to earn a “Found It” smilie at the same time as a visit to an amazing public service location that we, as Americans, often take completely for granted and, most times, do not recognize as a rare privilege we should be honored to have the ability to enjoy each day FOR FREE?!? And, as if ALL THAT that weren’t quite enough already, this adventures offers you the opportunity to earn a smilie with some stages located at the SMILEY Branch of the Denver Public Library!!!

To earn your smilie: you'll need to solve the puzzle (you can do that ahead of time)! (If you'd like to print a larger copy of the puzzle, click on the gallery of images and print from there.) Once you've arrived at the location, utilize the puzzle information/clues to locate the physical waypoint and solve for the combination, then locate the Final and open it successfully to finish the hunt and sign the log! The Final will have a four-digit code you'll want to jot down as part of a larger puzzle. The Final is a regular in size and is stocked full of fun little goodies for trade. It has plenty of room for travelers as well.

REGULAR HOURS: Monday 12-8, Tuesday 10-6, Wednesday 12-8, Thursday 10-6, Friday 10-6, Saturday 9-5, CLOSED Sundays. (visit link)

The William H. Smiley branch offers something unique to the Denver Public Library System: the Northwest Denver Toy Library where individuals are offered the opportunity to “check out” toys for a period of time in the same manner we can “check out” books. This is a service completely funded and operated by volunteers and is the only Toy Library in the Denver Metro Area. Being cognizant of this worthwhile community offering, we wanted to include some of the Toy Library flavor into our Geocaching adventure to first, bring this fabulous volunteer contribution to your awareness and, second, encourage you to participate in, volunteer toward, and/or facilitate this create endeavor (as will we)!

MANY thanks to gilligan110 and his daughter, Sam, for making room for us to place this cache in collaboration with the Denver Public Library system. Thanks to Crypto and MaddieMoof for hosting the puzzle.

This cache series would not be possible without the enthusiastic and supportive help of the staff at the Denver Public Library. Be sure to visit the other geocaches in this series and collect the special code at each final for future surprises. A bookmark of the other caches in this series can be found here: (visit link)

TFTHSL getting everything solved wasn't bad but where to go for the final? I credit persistence and dumb luck.

Greetings from California! Approve As is typical of me and letterboxes, I found the instructions kind of vague, but poking around I eventually figured it all out without having to appeal to the librarians. Smile

This is my next-to-last DPL, I just need Enchanter to complete the series.

Thanks for the cache! CoolCoolCool #1,249

Blast to the past! I solved the first (provided) puzzle quickly, and then solved stage 2 fairly quickly. It took some pondering to determine the location of the final when I realized that it was right under my nose. I didn't want to give in and ask local staff so I was able to solve it by using my underutilized noggin, which makes the find more rewarding. tft , L: Army man (Hooah!)

Needed a nudge from the librarian... still doesn’t make sense after completing... but I got the smiley. Love this building... so glad to see it preserved and put to good use... 5 of 26 in the DPL series.

Found the cache but the clue didn't make sense. Could there be pieces missing?

Very cute theme to this cache. And I didn't need any help to solve, yea! It brought back a lot of childhood toy memories. Pic is the basement children's room, which was unoccupied - a good time to visit. This was my first time visiting this library. It had architecture with character, similar to the Decker branch library.
Thanks for taking the time to make such an extensive cache - it was a lot of fun!

Solved this one with Oilbear125, Ghostiegal and Ksgator72. Had a lot of trouble with the last stage. Staff could not help us. Thanks to a previous cacher.

Good adventure find, on these cold January days of 2017, a little "heated" geocaching is ?warming?
