Let's keep bringing back the "Let's Go For A Hike" Event series. This series of geocaching events was started by famed Colorado Geocaching family Memfis Mafia.  It's a great excuse to go out and explore a new area while meeting up with some of the coolest people - Geocachers!! The event will take place at the POSTED COORDINATES from 12:00PM to 12:30PM on Saturday September 29th. Get there however you can, bring a lunch, and plan adequate travel time!

Let's go!

Let's Go For a Hike!

For those whom aren't familiar with the LGFAH geocaching events, this will be a Meet and Greet style event. We will swap geocaching stories, trade and discover trackables, and just get to know one another.  Since the event is over the lunch hour, we recommend bringing a lunch to enjoy once you get there!

There is a twist: This event isn't in some comfy coffee shop or a busy restaurant. The event is at a nice overlook at 7,608 feet!

There is one major hiking loop that you can take to get to this event, park at the Aikens Canyon trailhead. The most direct loop is about 3.5 miles, and the hike shouldnt be too strenous (rated easy to easy/moderate on most sites).

Hiking in the Rain

Don't forget! You are outside in Colorado. Be prepared for whatever mother nature might throw at us! I will try to make announcements closer to the event date regarding predicted condtitions, however you should always be prepared for anything.

See you at the overlook!

Sitting here logging this while it is 31° and snowing outside. You'd never know we hiked in t-shirts for this. This was our first time here and it won't be our last. Posted pics on the GCCO FB page. Thanks for the raffle prize and for hosting!

This was our first time here. Captured all the Pokémon and threw pine cones at LeewayeDiscGolf the entire hike. Lol. My BFs 1st event. Thanks for having us.

What a great day for a little hike! Thanks to everyone who joined us! It was great Hiking up to the event with Mike of MikeandJuli, and Sharmock and Angel! (See what i did there?) The overlook was a beautiful place to meet, with fantastic views! we enjoyed visiting with everyone there. A big thank you to Mabrooks! He used this event as his very first cache ever! I see a future hiking event in this area come Spring. Maybe we will extend the hike out to the Cabin Ruins!

Man, my bones sure were Aiken today! After working an overnight shift last night, there were doubts I'd make this event - but I knew I'd regret it if I didnt try.

So glad to have enjoyed this day! According to the weather forecast, today was going to be the last warm and dry day for a while! What a perfect way to spend it - outside with some cool friends.

Thanks for the fun event! I guess it's on me to plan the next one... hmmmm....

That was an all around great outing: perfect weather, pleasant hike, and enjoyable company at the mid-point meet/greet. Thanks for hosting!

I should be there. Been wanting to check this place out and I've got one cache left on 115, so perfect excuse to get it done. Is anyone hiking to the cabin after the event?

Hey, this one is close to home! Gotta make it, now!

I will try to make it since the date was changed. I have never hiked in this area (probably because it appears dogs are not allowed).

I’ll be there!

Maybe, hopefully. How's that for commitment?

Announcement 09/09/2018 By Imyy4u2
Hey all! Right after I posted this event, i was made aware of a get together that same day, to honor Dave Vredeveld. (Abunai Inc.) and the possibility it will be made into an event for all of us geocachers. So not to interfere, and also so I can help in the preparations of the food, I am moving this hiking event to 10/13. I know this will add to the likelyhood of not-so-great weather, being two weeks into October, but hey! a hike is a hike! Thank you guys for your understanding, and Hopefully you can all adjust your plans for that day to attend the BBQ in Daves honor.

Thanks!
Scott

I wanna go, gotta start walking again. Leona will go too if she’s home. Are four legged friends allowed on this trail? We have a nicer dog now, a chihuahua mix...
