A short walk along a pleasant trail on the Dakota Hogback. Cache theme is race cars, although there are some trade items included for those not into automotive speed.
This cache will afford you a view of both Red Rocks and Bandimere Speedway. There is no need to leave the trail until very close to the cache site - if there's a race going on the day you are there, you will have the opportunity to experience the deep rumbles of the race cars while you search. Please cache lightly and don't trample the terrain.

Update on 08/28/08: Apparently the CDOT has decided to close the part of Alameda that goes over the hogback, so one can no longer park as close to the cache as when it was placed.

On a two state and two country (CO and CA; US and Canada) vacation with XplrBnMe. Believe it or not we left Hawaii for a vacation but one has to get away from time to time. Will do some caching, sight seeing and playing a little. Took a few, lil sketchy for snake hideouts but extra caution was taken, long wet barely singable. Sorry didn’t have maint stuff, more later.

ON!

It took a while to find this one. The coords kept moving me down the hill. Very rusty container with a wet log. Too rusty to sign. TFTC!

I wanted to give up on this cache but I also didn't. It hasn't been found since April and I thought it deserved a new find. I continued my search until I located the well-hidden container. Unfortunately, the weather has gotten the best of this one. It was full of water. I drained the water and set the container on its corner to encourage the water to drain out. I like the addition to the container. Rehidden as found. Tftc!

I was on yet another short trip to Golden, and since I was in the local area with time available, I decided to give this nice cache a try. The souvenir event is currently going on, but up to this point I have not been very aggressive trying to complete it. I really wasn’t trying to complete it since I expected not to be available to complete it due to a lack of time for it due to competing plans. (Fortunately?) Plans changed, so now I am trying to make up for lost time. I was very happy to be able to make the find on this one.

At the time, I made the find while my premium account was in a state of expiration. It was already loaded in my GPS, so I was unaware of the predicament I found myself in. The situation was further complicated when picked up a TB here. I had requested a little bit of help from the CO, and I have to admit; I was a bit surprised when I was not even given the courtesy of a response to my query. I guess that is my fault for always expecting too much from folks.

Regardless, I was happy to make the find on this one and always appreciate extra effort to make a cache container creative and fun, TFTC.

Incredible hike to get these caches. Coming from Houston the altitude is a little challenging but both 3Olivz and I toughed it out.
