With a bank on every corner in this town, its refreshing to find one that is actually along a river: the Cache La Poudre. And near the Cache bank you'll find a bank with the cache; one with perpetual snow! Not only perpetual snow, but perpetual daylight!

The Cache La Poudre's headwaters are in the Front Range, in the northern part of Rocky Mountain National Park. The river descends eastward in the mountains through the Roosevelt National Forest in Poudre Canyon. It emerges from the foothills north of the city of Fort Collins. The river is a popular summer destination for fly fishing, whitewater rafting, tubing, and kayaking in the Poudre Canyon. The river is subject to sudden and devastating floods which often impact nearby communities. A flood in 1864 destroyed the military post, Camp Collins, located near the river at La Porte. The military relocated the camp and renamed it Fort Collins. Although no fort was ever built, the current city of Fort Collins was established and continues to battle the periodic flooding of the Cache La Poudre.

The log is full. We’re new to this, so not sure what we do in that situation. We did find a spot to sign, but could use a new log.

Second bomb cyclone today, and the kids still wanted to hunt!

Whew...I'm so glad this cache worked! Desert Rogue and I attempted a few nearby caches with no luck and we were running out of time. Fortunately my geosenses were still semi operational and I went straight to the location. I just needed a bit more oomph to make the final grab. Log was full but otherwise cache is in great shape.

Well, this was an easy find--and I needed an easy one after a couple of recent DNFs. Thanks for restoring a bit of my confidence, martensGgC! My puppies Orizaba and Chimborazo always enjoy sniffing around in new places, and this was a new place for all of us.

Found it. Don't lift up the wrong one. The one in the truck stop parking lot is full of wasp. I luckily didn't get stung.
