CONGRATULATIONS TO wy82331 AND doglover3pups FOR CO-FTF!!
Iron Mountain (elevation 8,698 feet) is an easily accessible summit in northern Larimer County that offers good views of the imposing south side of Diamond Peak (8,668 feet). No this is not the Diamond Face on Longs; and its not one of the Diamond Peaks near Cameron Pass. It's a smaller, but jaggedly impressive feature that's located almost on the Colorado-Wyoming border. It's a difficult ranked peak to climb--although there is a scrambling route on the south side that you will discover if you study the mountain carefully...So if you intend to climb Diamond Peak, come to Iron Mountain first and look critically at Diamond’s steep terrain from this summit. Bring binoculars in order to discern possible routes. The cache is located south of Iron Mountain’s summit, on Roosevelt National Forest land. The cache container is a plastic peanut butter jar that is covered with camo paint. Find it tucked under the largest fallen log, covered by a few sticks. Have fun making the short hike to Iron’s summit. Enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains, and then locate this cache as you hike out to where you parked along the Forest Service Road.

Thanks for the cache. Just realized I hadn't logged it yet. We spent a night camping in the area and enjoyed some time out of town.

I hadn't really known where we would camp so I loaded a bunch of caches. When I looked after getting the tent setup we were less than half a mile from this one. Had to get it. Forgot extra batteries for the GPS but it was a Denali cache so we just got pointed in the right direction and started going uphill. Turned it back on when we got close and found the cache no problems.

Saw a cow moose on the way up.

Was out looking for good camping spots and decided to go grab this cache. The hike (walk really) was nice. Not too steep or tough. Not too long. Found a neat place to camp while walking in. Good to get out and stretch the legs. TFTC!!

Had fun finding with my girls. Also saw some hunters who had a "find" of their own on the mountain.

Happy Easter I forgot to bring anything to put in cache and all that was in it was the log
great day to find a cache waded through some snow.

TFTC. First cache I have logged. Enjoyed finding it and then hiking up to the top of the peak for some great views.
