This cache is located just up the trail, after the lower sign board and right before the trail starts climbing uphill.
The South Canyon Fire of 1994 actually happened on the lower slopes of Storm King mountain. South Canyon is the drainage on the south side of Colorado River. The original person that called in the fire to the Grand Junction Air Center Dispatch (USFS & BLM) was not sure what the hillside on the north side of the river was, but the South Canyon was "geographically" close, so they gave it that name. Once a fire is named and resources start getting ordered and assigned, the name cannot be changed. Eventually the fire name would be ammended to the South Canyon Fire on Storm King Mountain.

Congratulations to Fork L Man and Salugie on the FTF :0)

We looked all around the fence posts and there was nothing there. I am fairly confident it is no longer there

Didn't see it but couldn't really look with a baby on my back. Too many branches and rocks and steep slidy hills.
