Finished this amazing multi today with WingsAndTales. Beautiful day for caching. Had lunch at the final and enjoyed the views. Sad to get to the end but glad I am done with all the cactus. (For now). Tftc!

Great spot for the final of the series. We brought our lunch and enjoyed the view. I'm a little sad that it's done. We saw some interesting tracks on the hike. One set was definitely a turkey. The others were from something significantly bigger. The shape was right for a bear but they seemed too small so maybe a young one?

On the way out I saw a road that looked better than the one we used to approach the cache. Don't be suckered in like I was. There is a locked gate where it joins the main road. There really should be a sign at the other end because we had no idea that it was an issue until we got to the gate.

Thanks for multiple days of fun on the trails. TFTC

Now I want to know who owned those ATV tracks that we had to follow to the final. I hope it wasn't the CO. I didn't see any horse manure along the way, but that was probably because it would have been unreasonable to get a horse to the beginning of this trail anyway. Interesting twist, but I should have expected it. A lot of work went into placing this series and even though I cursed the COs a couple of times, in the end, I appreciated all of it. A sincere thanks!

Estes01 and I have been working on this series for weeks now. On this, our fifth trip to Cañon City, we finished it at last!

We got the last few clues we needed to solve the mystery of The Island. Then discovered there was a little more to it. With the resources we had with us, we found an approach that only had about 200 feet of elevation change from parking. We had hoped the “road” would be drivable all the way, but it clearly hasn’t been driven anytime recently (except for a single set of ATV tracks). One last hike and we had The Island in hand. Thanks for a fun series, though I have to say I won’t miss the prickly vegetation of Canon City Smile.

FTF!

After grabbing all the clues and being short on time I called home to see if I could be an hour or two late,
I reluctantly got the green light and I reassured her that this was my last trip to Cannon City area for a while anyway.

Plugged clues in to geochecker and got " SUCCESS ".

Made my way to The Island and what a cool spot for the final.

Thanks again for a fun series to hunt for and for all the FTF prizes!

Headed back to parking I was thinking about how I am going to miss hiking through all the cactus, sharp rocks, loose terrain and very dry dusty conditions.
