Located in Paint Mines Park near Calhan.

Closest parking is at the upper lot. The cache is a small tube with a log and pencil located on an overlook point a short distance off the main trail. You can see Pikes Peak, much of the park's unique geology, and the occasional pronghorn antelope from this point.

Trails in this park are very well-maintained and even suitable for some wheelchairs and strollers, although the final approach to the cache will require your own two feet.

From Colorado Springs, go east on Hwy 24 to Calhan. Turn south on Yoder St at the east end of Calhan. Turn left on Paint Mines Rd. and follow that to the park.

Used the official trail to gain the ridge then followed it out to GZ. Pretty windy up here today but at least it's not 100 degrees.

Found container but no log inside. Had replacement log in my bag so signed that and left it. TFTC

Out with nightfury_viking and her friend, muggle Blake. This was our first time out to the Paint Mines Interpretive Park and muggle Blake’s first time out geocaching. It was a beautiful day; blue skies, decent temperatures, and a great breeze. We came across ants (A LOT OF ANTS), chipmunks, several different kinds of birds, several hares, and a rabbit. The kids were disappointed that we didn’t come across any lizards; maybe next time. I usually take first-time muggles to a different park to introduce them to geocaching but this is a great place to do so as well. It took us about 4 hours to walk all the trails, pick up all the (9) geocaches, and have lunch and several breaks.
Quick find; cache in good shape. SL.
