Straight foreward hike, could follow single track bike trails. Does go uphill, from about 9000 feet elevation.
Located SW of Nederland, take Forest Service (FS) road 132W to FS road 335 thence to FS road 355I. This road ends 300 yards past the Dead End sign at a wide place to park. A rough road, sometimes closed by snows. A snap for a high clearance vechicle; a low clearance sedan might not get there. Follow the plowed remains of the now closed road 355I for half a mile from the dead end, uphill of course. Elevation starts about 8800 feet, cache is at 9058 In spring/summer/fall, FS road 355 leads to places where boletus edulus, armillaria ponderosa, and other choice edible mushrooms may be found in season in good years. Some beautiful but toxic shrooms are also found in the area, so if you are not mycologically knowledgeable, just admire them and go for the cache. Wear orange during hunting season. Container is a red cigar tube with black lid, 3/4 inch diameter, 20 feet off the bike trail. No need -and may not be not possible- to pull the container from its hidy hole.. Remove the log and pencil with a pointy stick. Then why not go the fairly level quarter mile to Rocky Top.

Found the cache (thanks for the description) but the lid fell off long ago. Just a little spider lives there now. Cache is also firmly in place.
