religious context: heaven as the ultimate abode of the just

literary context: an ideal or idyllic place or state

geocaching context: terrain that is inspirational or provides a challenge to the cacher

Welcome to GC7CYN4 GoMRT's Paradise, a 3 stage multi-cache. Please be prepared for terrain and weather conditions typical with this part of the Rocky Mountains. Due to safety concerns, please do not attempt the cache during periods of rain, snow, or ice. Note the listed attributes.

During my geo-travels across the continent, I have seen many "tribute caches" placed to honor a geocacher. I have always thought about placing some tribute caches, but in the end, decided against it. In my opinion, a proper tribute cache would require something special that captures the essence of the named geocacher’s geo-personality. This can be a difficult and time intensive task. For example, I can think of at least one cacher I considered doing a tribute cache for. In his case, to do it right; I would have to make a placement with a 3000 ft elevation gain, use a broken container, figure out how to keep the log damp, place allot of misspellings in the cache description, make you climb a cliff with one hand tied behind your back while taunting others to keep up, and somehow change the D/T rating for every cacher to whatever they needed for the fizzy challenge. That just seemed like too much work.

Your hunt for this cache begins at one of the two listed parking coordinates. Each coordinate can accommodate one vehicle, with conditions less than optimal. Once your vehicle is secured, proceed to the posted coordinates on foot.

The cache consists of a hidden container at the posted coordinates, a hidden waypoint, and the final. Although the total distance is not significant, some will find the terrain challenging. Some climbing will be required, but special skill or equipment is not needed. Expect degraded GPS accuracy.

Enjoy the hunt.

Started an epic caching weekend by checking out the fire tower, then meandering south. GoMRT insisted on this stop, and I'm glad he did. what views!!! Thanks for placing this tribute.

I was dubious about my ability to find this whole cache by myself but since I was up here I figured I'd better find at least stage one. But I continued pounding them out going up & down, leaving a little skin on that rough Pikes Peak granite & finally spying the final. I picked up the coin to move along.

I had a nice blue sky day for this, although the wind was pretty cold and strong. Just had to be careful on the exposed spots. I saw a lot of signs of partying very close to the final, and some muggles had signed the log, although they didn't vandalize anything, so you might want to consider moving the final and/or hiding it better. Thanks for the cache.

I haven't met GoMRT, but I do see logs he writes from time to time on remote and difficult caches. I felt his dismay as he calculated how many 5-star caches he would need to log to increase his terrain average to 2.0 to meet estes01's challenge. But he overcame that gap and is still going. This tribute cache fits his new caching profile perfectly and was a fun adventure for us to find - it is well put together and has some great views in all directions. The terrain reminds me of another cache a little further north - GC1KY5D, Chairs of the Gods. A favorite point for sure - swapped TB's - TFTC!

As soon as this cache was published it went to the second highest spot on my to-do list. Both the cache owner and the recipient of the tribute are two of my favorite stalwart geocachers. I met K Trackers and GoMRT at a CITO event in April 2013. We were discussing my Two-Star Difficulty and Terrain Challenge GC3YHXC. In order to log the cache, it's not necessary to meet the requirement, which is to raise your D/T rating to a 2/2. But to two warriors like these cachers it was impossible to ignore. To quote the CO when he was attempting to raise his stats: "it's a lot like dieting...for every 1.5 you eat you'll spend four hours huffing and puffing in the mountains to work it off." GoMRT also kept me updated with his hiking adventures to include electrical storms, treacherous boulders, blazing sun and scree, cuts, bruises, blood and bandages and, of course, celebratory beer. I felt their pain. I thought they were tough and they were.

So back to GoMRT's tribute…another incredible cache from K Trackers. I'm running out of adjectives to describe these latest batch of caches. But this one was paradise for me too. It's a bit of a drive down Rampart Range Road, but more than worth it in terms of the terrain, the scenery and the fun of figuring it all out. Speaking of which, pay attention to the clues or hints listed before you leave home or at least while you have internet access. They made the waypoints a bit easier/quicker to locate. I hope ernie66 took some photos. I think the ones in my mind's eye are better anyway.

Absolutely deserving a favorite point!
