Where it is (spoiler)
Closer Spoiler

Base of Dillon Pinnacle's. Park 21M W of Gunnison at North end of Bridge Crossing Reservoir. Cache is outside NPS boundary.
This is a bit of a hike about 4 miles round trip. Not alot of elavation diffences though. We knew where we were going and it was a 3 hour round trip(with multiple picture stops). Bring plenty of water with you. this cache may possibly be accessed by boat and shortening the hike but i think that this would really be bushwackin it. would love for someone to try though. I also provide a few spoilers cause the GPSr's dont like being that close to cliffs only got an accuracy of 26ft after 300 readings. These coords will get ya real close but its a big area so you will know which gulch to try. Steep and very rocky last ascent to the cache, please be careful.

Take trail from parking lot. Take the left at first fork to stay on the Dillon Pinnacles Trail. (insert hint here)Cache is at the base of the cliffs at the end of the trail. Cache is a large salad dressing container. Original Contents:
Outdoor Survival Skills Book, Golf Ball, Movie trivia cards, Rolling Rock coasters, red white and blue poker chips, guitar pick, wooden flag ornament, saline solution & lens wipes, Constitution coin, president coin, Cabelas coin, marble, ball bearing, Flagging, RMEF decal and of course polished stones.

After I climbed away from the cache, below the pinnacles I sat down and read some of the other cache comments. They mention spoiler photos and a Boulder. That is not where I placed it, it’s protected by a tree now. Sorry about that but didn’t need spoilers so I hadn’t read that when I tried replacing. It’s still very obvious when you get in the area, assuming it doesn’t fall again probably from some critter playing with it.

TFTC could see it from a distance as it had fallen from its original placement. Not sure where that was at, so placed where hopefully it doesn’t fall down the ravine. Cache is in poor shape and no longer water proof. Needs a non-plastic container for these hash conditions. An ammo box would be better and would blend in nicer.

Needs replacement container. Current container is plastic, need non- plastic. Container is full of teeth marks and a large hole. No longer water proof.

I picked this one up while in the local area during the end of the June transition month for what I called the "Freeze and Fry Run"...snivel cold at night and in the morning, sun beating hot in the afternoon. I had to go to Cortez, CO to pick up some old friends from New Jersey to act as their tour guide while enroute to DIA. Of course, I was trying to hike and pick up a few caches before they arrived. I had passed on this one during a run in April 2015 because I did not have enough time for the hike. I was attracted to it because I needed another old Colorado cache for a challenge, it had a good D/T rating, and it seemed to be a "high drama" cache that I wanted to check out for myself.

"Murphy" took over the hunt from the very beginning. Due to construction on the bridge over the Gunnison River, it was a struggle and wait just to get into the parking area. I was happy to discover the hike was allot shorter and easier than I thought it would be and I was able to make up some time. Soon I found myself closing in on the GZ. Anticipating GPS inaccuracy, I had the foresight to print a spoiler sheet with pictures to help guide my hunt. Unfortunately, I employed the Homer Simpson "doh" technique and promptly left that sheet back in my garage in Colorado Springs. A spirited search of areas that seemed to (incorrectly as it turns out) conform to my memory turned up nothing. As I began to move to more "squirrely" areas, my eyes finally set on a suspicious area that seemed more promising. Breaching the last terrain obstacle was trickier that it needed to be, I wasn't dressed properly for this kind of 'climbing' (I'm trying not to overstate here) and I left behind some items (such as gloves) I would have preferred to have on hand. Some loose rock at a very in opportune moment ensured enough adrenaline to reach GZ quickly. The container is still in great shape and despite the confidence I had when I set out, I felt grateful to make the find on this one. "Murphy" made this one allot harder than it should have been, but it was a fun hunt and I really enjoyed the cool (figuratively and literally) area here. Thanks to the CO for short adventure, fun hunt, and keeping this old one alive for everyone to find, TFTC.

The earthcache should have been here

Thanks for the cache! A little slippery on the way up and down but some nice views.

My wife and I were camping at the Elk Creek Campground and thought taking this hike would be fun. I saw this cache was nearby and went for it - what a climb! I have never had a cache with this level of terrain difficulty before. Fortunately, once you get there the container is pretty visible. TFTC

Without the spoiler picture we would not even attempted. As it was I had to be in the gully looking up to see the location. Consider upping the numbers on this one, very tough hide and near extreme terain.

TFTC! Have lived in valley for 17 years and have never been on the trail or to the pinnacles. Great spot! Cache is dry and in good shape. TNLN. SL.

Don't do this one on a hot day! This is a hard cache to get to. It's a hard cache to go away from, too! A little rock-climbing experience would be useful, as well as a hefty dose of courage. Be sure to wear good boots!!! If your compass arrow starts flipping out, you can get pretty close by taking Latitude/Longitude readings. My nice new GPS got me within 50 feet, but then I lost the signal. I could have just checked out all the trees in the right area, but the terrain is not conducive to a safe search, so I played it safe and referred to the spoiler picture. This was a great hike and a good workout. The sky, the cliffs and the water are beautiful on a clear autumn day. RockDok and I were pretty tired when we finally returned to our car.

Terrain hard for 10 year olds, but worth it to all.

Given the logs, I really wasn't intending to actually look for this cache, but I was doing the hike, so I took my gps along. When I got to the end of the trail, I could hear voices. Sure enough, there were two people up where my gps said the cache was. I watched them for a while, did the loop, took pictures, and then came back to see if they'd found it yet. I heard no cries of success and they still appeared to be looking, although maybe they were just looking at rocks. Anyway, just in case they were cachers, I took a picture which I'll try to post. I enjoyed the hike and the area. Niagara
