Out looking for possible earthcache sites on Grand Mesa… Found an early stage slump block failure on this great trail. Also found a large number of terrific hides just begging for a traditional geocache. Just could not resist and set a couple. Enjoy the wonderful 5K walk/bicycle ride to view the geological feature and pick up an extra smiley or two along the way.

All I had going in were the cache name and coordinates.

GPS was bouncing all over.

The description might have helped but with so many fallen trees, I still might have missed this one. :)

Evening walk on the Mesa Top. Grabbed some long sleeves for some protection from the mosquitoes and started down the loop toward the various caches on it. Grabbed one, two, and pondered three until the 'skeeters were just too much and continued on my way around. Decided it was late enough and turned back when the trail started following a road. How hard can it be to follow an old, apparently graveled, road? Well, it turned into a cow path, but well established, then ended in a lake. I recognized the lake and cut around it to grab the trail going along the north end and follow it right back.

Seem to deal with the 'skeeters better when moving. Gotta get moving.
